Daily Inspiration: Meet Noble Assani Holt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Noble Assani Holt.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I actually started photography back in the Myspace days. I didn’t really notice I had a knack for it until I enrolled in college and became a sophomore at the illustrious Savannah State University. My Professor at the time Prof. Tracey Haynes gave me an imagery-type project that allowed me to invite people into my world the love I have for basketball. I went around Savannah and captured every basketball court that I’ve played on, which now, is just about every court in Savannah and I captured it all on a Google Nexus 7 tablet.

He loved the photos so much that he pulled me to the side and told me that he wanted me to try photography out a little bit and I said sure, why not. What I didn’t realize was I actually had been editing some of my friends’ photos and family members’ photos as well for years throughout several social media platforms starting with Myspace. What was even crazier was the actual pileup of messages in my inbox of people still asking me to edit and alter their photos that I still had unread after all these years. Fast forward, I met an individual by the name of Birk Herath by way of recommendation from one of my coworkers. He’s a professional photographer in Savannah and surrounding areas and we decided to meet in Forsyth Park for coffee.

Once we met, we talked about photography for hours and I really mean HOURS, and it was at this moment I knew I had a passion for photography. Right after meeting Birk, I started looking up some of my favorite types of photographers around Savannah and I stumbled upon Somi Benson-JaJa. I literally messaged Somi for about a year on Facebook before he finally messaged me back and said he would love to link up and the rest is history. Somi has Opened my eyes to so many different avenues when it comes to photography it’s insane.

I have been so blessed to have met him and have him mentor me as well as become my current boss at Shot by Somi Studios. We’ve won awards together, we’ve tackled 10-hour weddings together, we’ve traveled and done Branding shoots, Family Portraits, Grad Sessions, Real Estate Photography, and even professional political headshots together and it has been the greatest experience of my life thus far.

I’ve gained so much knowledge, technique, and networking skills from Somi that words just cannot describe how fortunate and appreciative I am for it. This is how I became Noble Assani the photographer and decided to build my photography business “Assani Essentials.”

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been the smoothest road I’ve traveled on by the slightest. One of the biggest struggles or challenges I’ve had to face is being more vocal and demanding of certain shots I want to get. Not only that, I have had the opportunity to be placed in many uncomfortable situations that involved me having to attend events that I literally knew no one in the room.

This forced me to be able to network a little differently and find things that relate to whomever I’m conversing with, and although it was extremely difficult at first, now there isn’t one event I go to where I don’t know everyone in the room.

I’m no longer as nervous even in rooms of people that I may not know or be familiar with but I find myself actually looking forward to events like that because it forces me to be vocal and meet new and interesting individuals that I may not have known before at all.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a professional photographer in the Savannah, GA area and I specialize in maternity shoots, family portraits, headshots, branding shoots, and event photography. I’m known for being the assistant photographer at Shot by Somi Studios, but I think people also know me as the energetic, playful, and goofy as hell individual named Noble Assani.

I’m most proud of my photography when I reflect on where I was and what I was shooting compared to where I am now. Being able to acknowledge the growth is one of my favorite things to notice within my photography and even more when old clients come up to me and show me a photo, I may have taken for them some years ago and I’m blown away by how clean, crisp, or just overall how great the photo came out.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
For those of you that want to work with me or collab on some shoots/sessions just message me on Facebook or Instagram. Also, my website is being updated at the moment but that link should be back in my bio again pretty soon as soon as I finish touching up a few more things for the website.

My Facebook is Noble Holt and my Instagram handle is Idk-NoNo.
