Daily Inspiration: Meet Owen Bleicken

Today we’d like to introduce you to Owen Bleicken.

Hi Owen, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
As most artists will say, I’ve created for as long as I can remember. Illustration seemed to me the perfect professional application of my interests and talents. After High School, I chose to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design to study illustration and I’m on track to graduate this coming Spring. I’m currently a Design Intern with Sony Music Entertainment working with the Creative Design Pool and I am learning a great deal about creative industries and practices.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a relatively smooth road. I am very privileged and have always been supported and encouraged to pursue my interests. That’s not to say my studies haven’t been challenging and work-heavy, but my fortunate position having a supportive family and peers is not lost on me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
On paper, I am an illustrator who concentrates in publication design and advertising visuals but I hold a vast array of interests in terms of the creative world. I aspire to join a large creative team for a company or agency as I’m passionate about art direction. My style is categorized by saturated colors, bold and irreverent themes, and a fun visual language. I’m proud of the portfolio I’ve produced thus far and how I’ve pushed my craft. What sets me apart from other illustrators and designers is that I do not pigeonhole myself in terms of career possibilities, I’m open to many different opportunities and paths, I want to explore as much as I can.

What matters most to you? Why?
My quality of life and the lives of those around me.
