Today we’d like to introduce you to Sadaiza Middleton.
Hi Sadaiza, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Before I started my business, I was working a low minimum wage job. But, I ALWAYS knew I wanted to do something else other than working for someone else. towards the end of 2018, it was a rough time for me money was not really coming in as much as I wanted it to. So, I end up getting a second job that pretty much did not work out for me it was draining me mentally. Coming in to 2019, I and a close friend was talking about starting a business. after that conversation, I got inspired by one talented lash artist who actually was doing lashes when I was talking to her about her business and looking at her doing lashes really made me wanna start doing them myself. So I started asking her so many questions. But the one question I asked her if she does any lash classes and so happens she did do lash classes. After, that conversation I started my own business right then and there I came up with a business name ‘sadai bougie minks’ – bought about 30 pairs of strip eyelashes from a vendor and sold them around my city. In April 2019, I lost the only job that I had! that was around the same time I invested in myself and took a lash extension class. Started doing lashes from home no equipment all I had was a lamp and a couch but I made a way some people around my city actually took time out and book a lash appointment regardless of how I was doing lashes at the time.
For a minute, I just stopped doing lashes because my business was not going anywhere I felt. then I got another job I was able to prove so much to my business now I started my business up again started taking clients from my home and right then I saw my business going up I was so amazed people from different cities was booking appointments taking long drives just to have an appointment with me. Also, my clients telling others about my business. Promoting my work everyday. By me believing in myself and taking my business seriously from the start, I would not be in the position I am in right now! Now I have my own lash suite, doing lash classes, taking more than 100 clients is the reason I am where I am today!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has NOT been a smooth road at all! being an entrepreneur, working a full time job and going to school! also, I’m young so I also try to make some free time for myself when I can most of the time. I usually, work my clients around my work schedule. It can be draining sometimes because I’ll work from 8am-5pm and take clients right when I get off from work most of the time or take clients before I go in to work. Trying to balance everything can be a struggle sometimes it can be weeks where I don’t have business coming in because I’m working most of the time.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an eyelash artist, I specialize in volume sets from light volume, volume and mega volume. I’m known for doing eyelash extensions and teaching lash classes and helping others start their own businesses.
what am I most proud of? being able to change people’s lives and give them that extra push or motivation they need. But, when I’m teaching each lash class I explain to each of my students no matter if being a lash artist is something you wanna be in life or whatever you wanna do take each knowledge you learn and keep it under your belt. Because whatever you wanna do in life, make sure it’s something you’re passionate about doing!
The type of volume sets that I provide for each client is different, they can all have the same style, the same curl but I make sure that each of my client’s eyelash extensions is different I also make sure that I take my time on each lash set that I do. Most of the time, my client knows that I’ll make sure that they will leave satisfied! Making them feel like they are that GIRL!
Any big plans?
In the future, I plan on expanding my lash business, offering more services to my business list on the aesthetics side. Also, Coming out with my very own lash products I have been working on for sometime now. But, I do plan on opening another business S.Beauty Cosmetics offering all the beauty needs from foundation to skincare products in the future! Also, there is ONE big change ill be moving my lash business to a new city- North Carolina in the fall of 2022 where ill be attending school! I have so many big plans for my business in a bigger city with so many more opportunities.
