Today we’d like to introduce you to SaraLisa Conner.
Hi SaraLisa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m 18 years old and from a one red light town on the Florida-Georgia border. I graduated high school in May 2021 and am currently working part-time while focusing on music and songwriting. According to my Mama, I started singing as soon as I could talk. From a very young age, music has been the center of my life. At any given moment, you could find me singing in church, school musicals, local festivals, community events, or talent shows. By the age of 16, I taught myself to play both the ukulele and the guitar!
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I leaned heavily on social media as an outlet for music and began posting song covers on TikTok. Eventually, I had an overwhelming number of followers. I was approached by a representative from a Nashville management team who wanted to provide advice and was interested in helping me grow my career. They introduced me to a couple of talented songwriters who I collaborated with.
In 2022 my first two singles were released – “Knockoff” debuted on February 11 and “Good Girl For A Good Time” on March 18. Thanks to my social media fanbase, “Good Girl For A Good Time” hit one million streams in exactly one month and has over two million streams to date! In June, I’ll be in Nashville recording three additional original songs that I hope to release this year!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Pursuing a music career is definitely demanding and can be confusing at times. Although I have been singing my whole life, this is merely the beginning of my journey. I am trying to spend this time gathering advice from my peers in the industry, taking things slow, and hoping I make the right moves for myself and my music. I haven’t signed a “deal” yet, but I’m hoping that happens in the future!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Although my heart lies with classic country royalty such as Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn, I’m also heavily influenced by modern artists such as Miranda Lambert and Kayce Musgraves. My social media videos have received recognition from artists such as Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, Miranda Lambert, Clay Walker, and Lainey Wilson. I have opened for country artists Chuck Wicks in Jacksonville, FL, and most recently, Restless Road in Chicago, IL!
I may be from a small town, but I have big hopes & dreams! I believe God has given me a gift and I am trusting in Him and the plan He has for my life.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
I love going to my family’s lake house every summer with all my cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents! We always have a blast when we are together and spending time with my family is always a blessing.
