Daily Inspiration: Meet TaRhonda Lloyd

Today we’d like to introduce you to TaRhonda Lloyd.

TaRhonda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I learned how to braid at 5 yrs old by playing with my “Kenya Doll”. Fast forward to about 11 or 12, I started practicing on myself & family members. Braiding has always been my passion for as long as I could remember. I would braid for fun, I would even braid for free.

Around the age of 14 years old, I started getting paid for doing something I loved! People would always say “Oh She Braids?” “I didn’t know that!” Fast forward, I attended & graduated from Empire Beauty in 2012. Shortly after I started renting booths from different salon owners.

June 2021, I decided it was time to stop renting booths so I rented a suite. November 2021, I became a Salon Owner! From “Oh She Braids?” to “Oh She Braids!” I am so grateful to everyone that has supported me through the years. It’s been a long time coming.

I thank God for it all! I finally get to win!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The beauty industry has its ups & downs. Dealing with slow seasons & losing clients can be discouraging. Being patient & consistent is key. Trying to please everyone is the biggest struggle. I find comfort in knowing that I did my best with each client.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Braider! I specialize in Senegalese twist, Tribal braids, and kids freestyle braids. I am fast, consistent, and reliable. I’ve been braiding for over 20 years & I still enjoy it! I’m obsessed with my progress. My passion is my purpose.
