Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Bolds.
Hi Alicia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Bee’s House of Esthetics formerly known as Bee’s House of Minks started in 2017. I was a new mom and college student taking 15/16 credit hours at a time. I started off with lashes, and business was extremely slow.
I traveled to Atlanta for more training in 2018 and I’ve been soaring ever since. I attended Cosmetology school in 2020 to get my license to open up a shop. I graduated in 2021 and later that year opened my own suite.
I expanded to facials, wax, brows, and body sculpting. Now, my business has new and improved services. I service men and women in the Savannah, GA area.
My clientele is amazing and my social media presence is on the rise. I also offer classes for people pursuing to go to school to receive a license as well.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely wasn’t a smooth road. I felt defeated many times because my clientele was up and down, I didn’t know how to market, and I didn’t know who my target audience was initially.
Word of mouth and social media helped my business a lot. I encountered rude customers but most importantly gained the best ones.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I’m a spa owner who offers lash extensions, wax, facials, body sculpting, brows, health & wellness. I started off being known for just lash extensions but over the years, I expanded.
What sets me apart from others is that I have a no-judgment zone. When you come through my doors, you can be yourself and transparent. There’s no need to be tense or embarrassed. I love making people feel brand new when they walk out my doors.
I’m most proud of growing loyal and consistent relationships with my clients. It feels my heart with joy to know they love me and will continue to get services from me. My brand will be big, I’ll have celebrity clients soon and a bigger location.
I also would hope to travel to different cities to service people and teach.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
For those just starting out in the beauty industry, my advice would be to stay consistent, determined, and focused. Just when you think about giving up, you could be a step closer to success.
Network with other business owners, get a mentor and invest in classes that are going to help you with your business. I am offering a blueprint for all beauty service providers like lash techs, estheticians, hairstylists, makeup artists, and more on how to gain clientele, show up on social media, and more.
I felt the need to offer ebooks because I know I didn’t have the knowledge when I started coming up, so I had to learn everything on my own.
