Exploring Life & Business with Ananet & Kriston Mendoza & Watkins of Spicy Ginger Mobile Bar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ananet & Kriston Mendoza & Watkins.

Hi Ananet & Kriston, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We were two best friends working in education-passionate about helping people grow, guiding young minds, and creating safe, inspiring spaces. But outside of the classroom, we both shared another passion: celebrating life’s moments, great drinks, and bringing people together.

After years of lesson plans, parent meetings and playground duty, we dreamed of something a little different. Something creative, people-focused and fun. Over countless catch-ups and afterwork drinks, the idea started to bubble up. And just like that Spicy Ginger Mobile Bar was born.

We traded whiteboards for bar boards, lesson plans for drink menus and built our mobile bar from the ground up. We wanted to create an experience that is personal, creative and beautifully styled. Whether is a wedding, a party, corporate events or a backyard bar-b-q, we bring the good vibes and awesome drinks.

It started as a side hustle but has become out full-time adventure- and we have’t looked back since.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting our business was exciting but hasn’t always been smooth sailing. Learning how to price our services in a way that reflected our value, covered our costs and stayed competitive was one of our first big hurdles. We didn’t want to undercharge but we also knew we had to earn people’s trust as a new business.

Getting our name out there was another challenge. We spent hours researching, designing our logo, meeting with venues showing up to local events and creating content. Slowly but surely, people started to notice us. There were many times we had self-doubt and wondered if we were doing the right thing. Every booking, smiling guest and returning customer reminded us why we started.

We are still learning and growing and pouring our hearts into this business and we would’t change a thing!

As you know, we’re big fans of Spicy Ginger Mobile Bar. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a fully licensed and insured mobile bar. We will service any event, big or small. We offer cocktails and mocktails.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
You don’t have to have it all figured out to start! When we left education to start our mobile bar, we didn’t have a big budget or a massive following. We did however, have passion, work ethic and each other. We figured things out as we went and we keep growing even if it feels slow. Starting a business is humbling but also rewarding. Our mistakes teach us something valuable.
