Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris & Bonnie Standard.
Hi Chris & Bonnie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
We have been in the sign and apparel industry for almost 20 years, serving the low country areas between Hilton Head Island, SC, and Savannah, GA. We are from the same beautiful historic town of Washington, GA, and have both been visiting the Savannah area since we were children.
Chris started with a small manual press for screen printing, a small CNC router, and a one-head embroidery machine. That equipment along with his woodworking skills quickly turned into a high-production business with state-of-the-art automated machinery. With our love of the coast and our love for the work we do, Coastal Signs & Apparel was created in the Fall of 2021.
We take pride in our work and have created thousands of happy customers by paying attention to detail and staying up to date on new technology and techniques. We are now thrilled to continue with the work we love and the newly formed business in the beautiful historic Savannah area. We are located in Mercer Plaza on Johnny Mercer Blvd and are looking forward to providing our community with affordable high-quality items they will be proud of and serving the community in any manner we can.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Just as most people have, we of course have had our share of ups and downs. Years ago when Chris was doing very well with his business, he was full of so many plans to grow bigger and bigger. A dear friend and savvy businessman told him, that his dreams were not yet possible as he had not failed enough yet. This friend told him in order to reach such high potential and appreciate it to keep things on that level you have to first experience many failures.
At the time being young and pretty successful it seemed like such a funny thing for someone to say. What we now know is experience is everything and struggling is part of growing, it creates appreciation and motivation. We have pushed through and confronted every struggle that has come our way and has become better for it.
We’ve been impressed with Coastal Signs & Apparel, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We specialize in screen printing, embroidery, and wide format printing as well as offering signs of many types including CNC routed and sandblasted signs and a very long list of promotional items. We truly care about our customers and the products we create for them and always strive to make sure they are nothing short of perfect. We work well under pressure and do everything within our power to give the quickest turnaround times possible.
Coastal Signs & Apparel loves helping out in the community and views all of our customers as part of our coastal family. We do more than sell our products and services. We will always go above and beyond for our customers and the community as a whole.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Chris was a commercial deep sea diver and scuba dive instructor for many years and Bonnie is a genealogist and huge history buff preparing to become a member of D.A.R.
