Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeho-Nephtey Abraham.
Hi Jeho, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Moments caught in time. Photos of friends and family. The filling of a void. Born and raised in Haiti, I would see photos of moments enjoyed by family and friends. I wanted to include myself and others in what I considered to be an experience that could last forever in time through photography. After the death of my parents, at the age of 15, I lost myself and the passion that drove me.
In my early 20s, I was convinced to go to school for accounting where I met Daphney Derane. After a year or so of knowing each other, she could tell that I was not meant to be an accountant and pushed me to do what she knew I was meant to do and funded half of the enrollment fee for CEPEC (Centre d’Etudes Photographiques et Cinématographiques). During my stay at CEPEC, there was an earthquake that devastated my country and all I could do was focus on my camera, which I grabbed. It was then that I knew I had to keep it close to me as we were one and the same.
Ten years ago, I began participating in numerous art showings and workshops at FOKAL (Foundation of Knowledge and Liberty). My photographs have been displayed around the world in multiple expositions, from Port-au-Prince, Aruba, Paris France, and Fort Lauderdale, among others. Two years ago, I was held at gunpoint in an attempt to be kidnapped (This happens frequently in my country, Haiti). From that moment, I decided to come to this great country, the United States of America!
My creativity as an artist has helped me surpass many obstacles, and I hope to inspire others on their own personal journeys no matter where it may lead them. I am currently working on a project with my best friend Georgy Lundy (an author who just released his third poetry book) that will not only feature my photographs of the human body but be incorporated with music, dance and poetry!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not smooth, however very eventful! All of which I am grateful for. Loss of loved ones, earthquakes, and devastating hurricanes included.
Without moments to learn and grow from, we have no expanded experience to express our passions.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When you have two friends that dare to dream big, and have the drive to push forward, Wendy Saintilaire and I shared visions of working for ourselves, rather than helping someone else make money and collaborated our ideas of expressing our individual passions. Through this you get Exposit Studios. We work across many photo/video genres. Whether you want us to create a trade show video for your company, a wedding, anniversary or documentary, we provide solutions with a top-of-the-line professional look and sound. Shooting on location or in our studio, we will create the feel that not only conveys your message but captures your memories through our passions that overflow into the outlook of moments to be captured in time.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
First of all, I would like to begin by thanking my Lord and personal savior, Jesus Christ, who always comes first and always comes through, Wendy Saintilaire, who is not only my business partner but an amazing and supportive friend, as well as my family and friends for having faith in my passion!
