Exploring Life & Business with Jillian Brown of Peachy Balloon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jillian Brown.

Hi Jillian, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The idea of Peachy Balloon Co. sprouted when I volunteered to do balloons at my younger brother’s graduation party in 2021. I did not know what I was doing and the balloon arch definitely was not my best but I loved making it. My family thought the balloons were beautiful and I was so proud of the art that I made with my own hands. I decided that day that I could make a business out of balloon design.

Balloon designing is something that is so much fun, brings me joy, and adds that extra touch to my client’s special events. I love connecting with my clients and successfully executing their vision. I got where I am today by partnering with a Savannah-based event planner, The King Experience. They taught me a lot about professionalism, networking, and gaining clientele; they were also one of my first clients.

Not only did I gain a great mentor in the owners of the King experience but they send me clientele looking for balloon garlands for their events. I love making beautiful designs with balloons and I love all the possibilities that can be designed. Working with my clients pushes me to be better and better. I grow and learn after every installation.

I have used social media as a major tool to help my potential clients find my business and it has directly contributed to my growth. Peachy Balloon Co. is still growing as well as accepting clients. I am so excited to service Savannah and the surrounding areas by offering organic and one-of-a-kind balloon garlands.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As a business owner, I am constantly learning and developing my craft. Balloon design is an art form that most people think is easy but contrary to popular belief it is a challenge. I can admit that I made a lot of mistakes when I first started Peachy Balloon Co. while I was learning the ropes of balloon design.

As a beginner balloon designer, you learn that transporting the balloons can be a challenge along with learning your own aesthetic. I have a smaller car and when I deliver these garlands to my clients, they are often 6 or 7 feet tall which creates a challenge. So, I always prep the night before and set up my garlands at my client’s venues. This gives my clients an opportunity to see their balloon concept come to life and it adds a personal perspective.

I want my potential clients to open up their minds to all the possibilities of balloon design. Balloon designing is more than a 7-foot garland; there are balloon towers, balloon walls, and organic balloon arrangements the possibilities are endless as long as my client has the imagination.

The best challenge is taking all my client’s ideas, no matter how outrageous or how small, and creating a special concept for their special events. I enjoy making these balloon designs so much that even the struggles are fun, no matter the obstacles.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am originally from Powder Springs, GA. I went to Georgia Southern University where I graduated with a Bachelor in Health Science with a concentration in Health Administration. I enjoyed my undergraduate years in Savannah and I became acclimated to the area so I stayed and grew in my career.

I currently work full time in health administration, it’s a very tedious career that demands a lot of critical thinking skills and sound decision making; I have also been studying to obtain my MBA in June. Peachy balloon Co. has become my outlet, a way for me to escape from corporate life and express myself.

I create one-of-a-kind, organic, and bio-degradable balloon arrangements. Peachy Balloon Co. is extremely flexible with designs; I offer Balloon garlands of all shapes and sizes. I can make smaller balloon bouquets, balloon walls, balloon centerpieces, and anything my client can dream of. What sets me apart from others is my different approach to designs, my creative perspective, and my youthful essence.

What I am most proud of brand-wise is my ability to deliver exactly what my client envisions. I have been able to connect with my clients to the point where they really trust my judgment. Peachy Balloon Co. is a women-owned and black-owned business, exceptionalism is the only option.

I want to offer my clients a personable and unforgettable experience. I am so grateful for my support system and gods grace, without those two I don’t think Peachy Balloon Co. would not exist at all.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory is probably spending time at my grandparents’ house in Columbus, Ga. I have a huge family and when I was in Columbus not only was I able to spend time with my grandparents but I got to see and spend time with my cousins.

Growing up your cousins are your first best friends and now that we are all grown up I don’t get to see them that often especially now while we live in a pandemic. I miss those times before we were forced to grow up and be adults, fun times. I am someone who is very family-oriented and seeing my family puts the biggest smile on my face.

My family encouraged me a lot to start Peachy Balloon Co. and they encourage me to keep going when the business gets slow. Being able to see my huge family has been a challenge during the pandemic because everyone is concerned about their well-being. This is completely understanding but my favorite joy is being surrounded by my family and that is what I miss most about my childhood.
