Exploring Life & Business with LaJoyce Jones of Angeline Studios

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaJoyce Jones.

Hi LaJoyce, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started exploring amateur photography in high school just as something fun to do. Once in college, I didn’t find myself with a camera as often, however, I always found myself taking note of unique sites through my very own eyes. One day, I was asked by someone to photograph a birthday shoot. Once I picked the camera back up, I realized I enjoyed it much more than just a hobby! I discovered a true love to capture precious moments in the most genuine form! While the business is still learning and growing, I have had the opportunity to capture beautiful sites that create long-lasting memories for those I serve. I hope to continue this amazing journey and make those both in front of my lens and viewing my captures feel and see the genuine beauty of life and nature that God has given us!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Smooth…I wish! While appreciated, in the early stages I received criticism that I was not prepared for and struggled to accept and learn from. I also struggled with a lot of doubt due to my lack of formal education in photography. I remember the many thoughts that would run through my mind saying, “You’re not qualified. You don’t know what you’re doing. Perhaps we should not make a public announcement” and many more. I am still learning to be consistent, invest more time in learning and finding resources, and to not be afraid to network without feeling intimidated and comparing my work. Most importantly, I have learned to be humble and take this as an opportunity to improve my craft.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Angeline Studios was birthed in August 2020, originally operating out of the Fort Mill, SC/Charlotte, NC area. Since then, the business has relocated to Brooklyn, NY. While I do have a base location, I mainly focus on travel photography. Meaning, I will come to wherever my clients are! I do not have a specific focus currently, I love for clients to give their ideas and challenge myself to successfully accomplish their vision. I have much experience in nature, lifestyle, and family photography and am looking to expand more into portrait work. Thus far, I am most proud of my travel/nature photography because for some, they will never be able to physically visit certain locations and I am honored to bring those sites to them wherever they are!

I offer base pricing for a variety of shoots excluding travel fees. I encourage anyone who is interested to visit my website as well as reach out!

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Savannah is one of the cities I have had the opportunity to shoot in. I love the historic sites of Savannah as well as the Cobblestone Walk most. The simple, yet intricate designs found in the infrastructure interest me the most. I least like the rain and flooding in Savannah because while I can capture in the rain, it limits my ability to get out and explore!

Pricing:

  • Basic Photoshoot Package (Individual) $150
  • Lifestyle/In-Home Package $175
  • Family Photoshoot Package $250
