Today we’d like to introduce you to Mysty Robbins.
Hi Mysty, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve been in the beauty industry for nearly a decade, and my journey began in the world of makeup, working on set productions, musical theatre, weddings, and portrait sessions. Those early experiences helped me fall in love with the way beauty can transform not just someone’s look, but their confidence and energy.
After that, I transitioned into the salon world, where I spent almost three years as an associate under incredibly talented stylists with more than a decade of experience. That time taught me the true artistry of color, precision, and client connection and how deeply personal this craft can be.
From the very beginning, I knew I wanted to create something of my own, a place that not only focused on hair and makeup, but also on heart and purpose. That dream became Nostalgia Studio and HotHeads Savannah. My faith has been the foundation of everything I do, and I give all the glory to God for the journey that’s brought me here. This business has always been about more than just beauty, it’s about uplifting others, spreading joy, peace, and patience, and using my art to reflect something bigger and more meaningful.
Building my salon hasn’t been easy, but it’s been an incredible journey of growth, grace, and gratitude. Now, one of my greatest passions is mentoring other artists and helping them find their own confidence and calling. For me, transforming someone’s look is just the beginning. What truly matters is helping them feel seen, inspired, and renewed inside and out.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any meaningful journey, mine hasn’t always been smooth. There were many times early on when people doubted my vision or looked down on my dreams. Working under others who didn’t always appreciate or uplift me taught me some of my most valuable lessons, not just about business, but about perseverance and self-worth.
It took a lot of strength to rebuild my confidence time and time again, especially when I realized that not everyone shares the same passion for growth or excellence. Instead of lowering my standards or giving in to discouragement, I learned to lean on my faith and trust the path God was leading me on. Choosing to step out on my own became one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It allowed me to create something that reflects not just my artistry, but my core.
Through those challenges, I discovered the importance of surrounding myself with people who truly believe in me. My husband, close friends, and mentors have been my greatest support system, helping me stay grounded and reminding me to see the bigger picture. Those experiences shaped me into a stronger leader, someone who leads with grace, patience, and purpose. Now, I try to pass that same encouragement on to others who might be finding their own strength through the hard moments.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Nostalgia Studio Savannah?
At Nostalgia Studio, we’re all about bringing beauty and personality together in the most authentic way possible. Our space is a creative hub, a throwback to the eras that inspire us most: the iconic 70s, 80s, 90s, and early Y2K. Think funky, retro energy with a modern twist, where every blowout, blonde, or bold color moment feels like a total vibe.
We specialize in dimensional color, vivid transformations, blonding, extensions, makeup artistry, and full glam for weddings and special events through our wedding business HotHeads Savannah. Our blowout bar is one of our favorite features, it’s where confidence meets that effortlessly cool, “main character” energy. We also offer nails and lashes, making us a one-stop beauty destination for anyone wanting a full transformation.
But what truly sets us apart is our personality. We’re not your typical corporate salon, we’re real, fun, and full of heart. Our atmosphere is creative, edgy, and inclusive. Whether you’re coming in for a color refresh or a total reinvention, we want you to feel comfortable being you. There’s laughter, good music, and often a Dirty Soda in hand, because we believe self-care should feel like hanging out with your favorite people, not just another appointment on your calendar.
Brand-wise, we’re most proud of the community we’ve built. Every stylist here brings their own artistic flair, and together, we’ve created a space where nostalgia meets modern beauty. From our curated, trendy merchandise to our retro-inspired aesthetic, everything we do reflects a love for art, individuality, and transformation.
At the end of the day, our goal is simple, to help every client leave feeling inspired, confident, and a little more like themselves than when they walk in.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I’d say the qualities that have shaped my success the most are my drive, determination, and deep faith. I’ve always had a strong desire to create something of my own and to make a real difference in people’s lives. I’ve been a go-getter for as long as I can remember, someone who believes in chasing big dreams even when the road isn’t easy.
When I truly deepened my relationship with the Lord, my purpose became even clearer. I wanted to be someone others could rely on for encouragement, growth, and inspiration. That passion to see people step into the best version of themselves is something I carry into everything I do.
I’ve always held myself and my work to high standards, not out of perfectionism, but out of pride and purpose. I believe my business should reflect excellence, creativity, and heart. Mediocrity has never been an option for me; I’m always striving to go above and beyond, to transform not only the way people look, but how they feel. That relentless drive, mixed with faith and vision, is what keeps Nostalgia Studio and HotHeads Savannah growing and evolving every single day.
