Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrice Morgan.
Hi Patrice, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am originally from Gulfport, MS. I came to Savannah in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina. I fell in love with makeup at an early age. I used to watch my mom and sister put on makeup growing up. I used to sneak in my mom’s makeup all the time. I wasn’t allowed to dabble in makeup until I turned 13 years old. I was only allowed to wear eyeshadow and lip gloss back then.
I’ve always loved watching makeup tutorials and always admired those who had the gift of makeup, but never knew it was inside me until my late 20s. Over the years I would do my family and friends’ makeup for different events. As I was watching a tutorial one day it came to me how much I actually loved doing my makeup and wanted to learn more and make it into my career. Once I came up with a business plan and how I was going to achieve it I went in full force.
I attended Industry Makeup Academy online which is based out of Atlanta. I also attended Vizio Makeup Academy online out of California. I have received my professional MUA certificates from both schools. My work is my passion. I put my all into making my customers happy. When they are satisfied, I am satisfied.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not been smooth by a long shot. Dealing with the pressures of being an MUA can be really hard on your life and the people around you. When being an MUA you have to have a strong mindset and support system. When I first started out I didn’t have the necessary tools I needed to be the best that I could be in my field.
I had to do my research and study so that I could help myself serve my customers, and give them my all. I have had to deal with not thinking I’m good enough or if I had made the right decision. Being an MUA definitely has cut time with my family. Family is huge to me and having clients late or having to work during an important family event has its disappointments.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love that Savannah has THE BEST food there is to offer. I love the diversity and welcoming feeling we offer to everyone that enters our city. The one thing I like the least is seeing the homeless without a home.
When I’m waiting on a red light to change and I see so many homeless people it breaks my heart. I wish I had everything they need right then and there so they wouldn’t have to stand on the corner anymore.
