Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Greene.
Hi Erica, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Erica Greene, I am a local Realtor, comedy show promoter, and I’m currently a junior at Georgia Southern University on the Armstrong campus studying psychology and communication. I was born here in Savannah, but I’ve lived all over Georgia, from Atlanta to Valdosta and a good number of little country towns in between. I attained my real estate license in Atlanta GA, back in 2013 and after a few years in sales. I decided to return home to Savannah to be closer to my family and friends. I wanted to assist them with achieving their dreams of homeownership. By motivating, encouraging, and guiding my people to homeownership and building a legacy for their future. This is my way of contributing in a positive manner to our community.
As a member of this community and Georgia Realtor, I was in search of a way to interact with the people in the community on a regular basis. I used laughter and the love for friendly competition as my inspiration to create Change My Mind Comedy. I want a way to get involved, have fun, and reach more people
Change My Mind Comedy (CMMC) started out as a comedy competition that grew into a way to promote local and on the rise comedians. Change My Mind Comedy is known locally for its competitions, complete with championship belts and the annual Terrance Miller Comedy Birthday Bash. We are planning to bring comedians we think you should know about, such as Christian Johnson, who will be here in February at Victory North. We also want to bring comedians that haven’t been here before or haven’t visited in a while to our stage.
My goals for the future involve campaigning to become Georgia’s Governor in the near future and starting a life coaching business that focuses on finances, spiritual evolution, and healthy habits.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to success always comes with its own set of struggles. These struggles are here to help us grow, and I have grown so much since the start of my career. I began in Atlanta, where I didn’t know anyone. Developing a client base with no connections is a struggle in itself. I was forced to grow outside of my comfort zone and communicate with people that weren’t related to me or didn’t grow up with me. For someone like me being shy came naturally, and like the majority of people, I too had a fear of speaking publicly. However, through education and spiritual growth, I have learned to overcome those fears and that has changed my life forever.
As you know, we’re big fans of E & T Community Limited Company. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
I created this company with my younger cousin, Terrance Miller; we wanted to bring more entertainment to Savannah. I really wanted to connect with the people of the community on a regular basis. My cousin was already involved in comedy starting his career as a stand-up comedian. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity for us to collaborate and build something great.
We started promoting local comedy shows, doing comedy competitions, and throwing a comedy birthday bash for him each year.
However, I don’t want to stop at comedy in the next five years, I plan to bring a new spin on how people purchase homes, how we engage with our community, and how we impact the youth.
E&T community Limited Company is about community; we want to build up our community by building better citizens, which means targeting the youth and developing them while they are young. I want everyone to be on the lookout for Change My Mind Comedy Competition to be inside of Chatham County public schools very soon.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson that I’ve learned through this journey is to keep going and keep challenging yourself. I live my life by the three I’s, which I received from a famous wrestler Kurt Angle back in the early 2000s. Live with intensity, integrity, and intelligence so you’ll always be prepared for whatever life brings you.
