Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacqueline Weeks.
Hi Jacqueline, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a California native and my husband, originally from Georgia, was stationed on Camp Pendleton when we met and fell in love. On a visit back home to meet his family we journeyed to Savannah, a place he had grown up visiting throughout his childhood. I fell deeply in love with the city and knew it was the perfect place to host our wedding. Facing an upcoming deployment and myself finishing college we decided to quietly elope with the intention of later celebrating with all of our loved ones in a formal ceremony. After two long years and an unexpected coast to coast permanent change of station (PCS) we finally had our big day. I had spent the last four years studying at California State University at Fullerton in public health in hopes of pursuing a career in the California Health Department. Our cross country move brought challenges in navigating my entry into the workforce after college. Working in retail management in the meantime; I was burnt out and serving for a passion project. I remembered the joy wedding planning brought me and decided to take a leap of faith by starting my own LLC. What initially began as the intention of a periodic side hustle quickly took off faster than I ever could’ve imagined. At the end of 2024, when I learned I was pregnant with my son, I knew it was time to let go of the things that were holding me back and causing additional stress. I decided to quit my retail job and throw myself completely into my business. What should have been an immensely stressful transition was met with something I can only describe as a divine sense of peace. With hard work my company quickly grew, and I serviced 15 couples’ weddings in my first year. All while having to miss the peak wedding season to have my baby boy. This year I am booked by 32 couples. A blessing I have earned by my genuine passion and dedication to bringing people together through experiences like ones I would want for myself or my loved ones. People say business isn’t personal, but to me that is exactly what it is. And it really should be when you have the privilege of playing a role in one of the most important days of someone’s life!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to being a “mom-preneur” at 23 years old was not all sunshine and rainbows. To be young and to be a trailblazer required immense sacrifice. I have always been determined to display myself as a competent leader. I have always worked hard and kept my nose to the grindstone. Due to this, I have missed many important milestones and moments in the lives of those I love so I con continue to learn, better myself and prove myself. As much as I had pride in myself for setting myself apart early in life, I always had a difficult time not being able to relate to others my age. There were so many times I doubted if I was even moving in the right direction. I jumped head-first into a field I knew in hindsight very little about. However, I turned to my past experiences and learned from them. I clung onto “transferable skills” that I picked up from other jobs, my college education, and time in extracurricular groups to shape myself into the businesswoman I am today! Each day brings new opportunities for growth and I am excited to welcome who I will become tomorrow!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
