Today we’d like to introduce you to Katherine and Winston Graham.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Well, we are the Grahams, a seventh-generation Savannah family, and in 2015 we started as a family meal company servicing families with food sensitivities and preferences. By 2017, we put the business on hold to homeschool our two boys, and in 2020, we re-launched Good Graham as a specialty foods company focusing on those with gluten sensitivities, allergies, autoimmune issues.
The genesis of Good Graham began as a way to help manage/mitigate our son Fulton’s symptoms of Crohn’s disease. Early on in this path, we discovered certain foods were at the root cause of the inflammation that resulted in his flare-ups. By the summer of 2020, we wanted to find a way to offer a wider audience some of the foods we have prepared for our clients over the years.
As a side note, for years we have used glass containers to store, cook and deliver our offerings. Afterward, we would retrieve the containers to be cleaned and sanitized to reuse again. As a natural progression, we package many of our retail products in glass jars and compostable packaging. We are trying to create a truly circular system that could help in reducing waste. We like to call it a “Refill Revolution”.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Starting a new company during the COVID pandemic might not have been the wisest of decisions, but our unyielding passions to reach out and help others in similar circumstances to ours prevailed.
We have met so many amazing families that have enriched our lives and solidified that we are on the right path.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Well, we specialize in servicing people that suffer from allergies, autoimmune, sensitivities, and those following the Plant-Based, Paleo lifestyle, and those in between.
We are most known for our gluten free, grain-free, dairy-free, and cane sugar-free cookies, plant-based Mylks and butters. We love them all, especially our cookies which taste like you are eating a chewy blondie brownie cookie. Yummy! Can you tell that we are proud of them? And all our cookies are packaged in home-compostable bags.
What sets us apart from others is that we are gluten free, grain-free, dairy-free, and most of our products are vegan. It is like finding a unicorn in the health food aisle at the grocery store.
We use home-compostable packaging and reusable glass containers to help reduce footprint and waste. Our retail partners are drop-off locations for our glass bottles and jars.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
Bringing Good Graham jars back to drop-off locations, recycling, and composting. We love working with our fellow neighbors at the market.
We are working with IsReally Hummus to use their organic aquafaba (juice from cooking chickpeas) in our vegan products, Halito Herbs in collaborating on tea milk flavors, COR Compost is helping us better packaging ideas, Little Plant Things is working with us to create more nutrient-dense products using microgreens, and Wildlight Honey has amazing local honey for our honey granola. We love collaborating with other local businesses.
There are many more small companies that we are proud to work with. Currently, we are selling a few of our products in Brighter Day. They have all been amazingly supportive!
