Hidden Gems: Meet Megan Myrick of The Art of Motherhood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Myrick.

Hi Megan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m a mom to two teenage boys, five dogs, married to a retired Army veteran, and a former first-grade teacher myself. When my youngest was born, my husband bought me my first “real” camera simply because I wanted better pictures for my scrapbooks. I took a few online classes, and before long my friends began asking me to photograph their families. What started as a hobby quickly grew, to the point where I realized that if I was going to be spending so much time serving others, it needed to be an actual business. That’s when Megan Myrick Photography was officially born in 2011.

Over the years, my passion for celebrating motherhood and capturing the beauty in each season of family life, helped the business grow steadily. Today we operate from a beautiful 2,000 square foot boutique studio in Richmond Hill, and our team has the honor of serving hundreds of families every year.

Six years ago, after noticing that many of our maternity and newborn clients were having 3D/4D ultrasounds elsewhere, I expanded our offerings and opened Wonderfully Made Ultrasounds and Boutique as a complimentary business. The boutique component came about because we had extra room in our building, and I figured if we were already paying rent, we might as well put it to good use! It became a curated space for moms and moms-to-be to feel seen, supported, and excited about their growing families.

My lead sonographer, Whitney, joined me four years ago, and in 2025, she became a franchisee of the ultrasound studio, a decision that thrilled me because it kept the heart of the brand in the hands of someone who cares deeply about these moms and babies.

Earlier this year, with the help of a business coach, I recognized that while each business was thriving, the split branding was confusing. The heartbeat behind everything we do is the same: loving, serving, and celebrating mothers. So, we united all of our offerings under one umbrella brand, The Art of Motherhood.

From this unified mission, new dreams have continued to grow; a weekly podcast launched in 2025, and in 2026 we will introduce The Mothers Club, an online space for moms to connect and learn, and a seasonal subscription box. All of this is designed to equip and encourage moms in practical and heartfelt ways.

Through every evolution of this business, one thing has remained constant – motherhood is beautiful, holy work, often unseen, but always deeply impactful. Our desire is that every mom who walks through our doors or into our community feels acknowledged, supported, and celebrated.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like any small business journey, it certainly hasn’t always been smooth. There have been seasons where I questioned whether I could afford rent or if the studio would be quiet for too long. Those early years, especially, when every decision feels like it could make or break you, were filled with late-night prayers and spreadsheets, wondering if I could keep the lights on.

Hiring my first employee was another major leap of faith. It’s both exhilarating and terrifying to take responsibility for someone else’s livelihood, especially when you’re still building stability yourself. Opening the ultrasound studio was daunting because I knew nothing about ultrasounds and had to reply on the experience of the sonographers I hired. Growth requires constant learning, delegation, and trusting others with something that feels deeply personal.

But while there have definitely been challenges, I often tell people it hasn’t been as rocky as one might expect. I firmly believe that is because I am living out God’s purpose for my life. When you walk in obedience and remain steadfast, He provides. I’ve seen His faithfulness time and time again, whether through an unexpected booking, a client’s encouraging words, doors opening, or incredible people that arrived exactly when I needed them.

This journey has stretched me, strengthened me, and reminded me that I am not building this alone. And I wouldn’t trade a single part of it!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

The Art of Motherhood Subscription Box is an extension of our mission to nurture and celebrate moms beyond the walls of our studio. Each seasonal box (4 per year) will be thoughtfully curated with purposeful, uplifting items that support moms physically, emotionally, and spiritually – always with beauty and quality in mind.

We are known for creating a warm, intentional, and confidence building experience. We see the mother, not just the baby, not just the images, but the woman behind it all. Our photography clients often share that they’ve never felt more beautiful or more valued than they do in our studio. That is something we take very seriously and are deeply proud of.

What set us apart is the way this all works together, and we think our business model is unique and something truly special. A mom might come to us for an ultrasound, then return for her maternity and newborn portraits, shop in our boutique, become a podcast listener, and eventually join a community of other moms inside The Mothers Club. It’s a relationship that can last for years, even generations, as families continue returning for updated family portraits as children grow.

Brand wise, I’m most proud of the heart behind everything we do. Motherhood is profoundly important, sacred work, and so much of it happens unnoticed. We want our space, our services, and our storytelling to remind moms that they matter. Their presence is a gift. Their love changes the world.

What I hope Savannah readers know about The Art of Motherhood is this; whether you are expecting your first baby or sending your last off to college, you deserve to feel celebrated. If you walk through our doors, or into our online community, you will be seen, encouraged, and supported, exactly as you are.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is serving, encouraging, and celebrating mothers. Not just in the picture-perfect moments, but in the unseen, exhausting, holy ones too. Motherhood can feel incredibly isolating at times, and yet it is one of the most important callings on earth. My desire is for every mom who encounters our brand, whether through a portrait experience, an ultrasound, at the boutique, listening to the podcast, or within The Mothers Club, to feel valued, supported, and deeply loved.

I believe God has trusted me with this purpose; to help women see their own worth, the beauty in their story, and the legacy they’re building each day. When a mother leaves our studio standing a little taller because she finally sees herself the way her family sees her, that’s why we do what we do what we do.

At the end of the day, if our work helps even one mom feel less alone, more confident in the incredible job she’s doing, then we’ve done something that truly matters.
