Hi Nicole, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
A little bit about me, I am a certified Family Nurse Practitioner. I’ve been in the medical field for about 11 years and after working several years in Oncology, I had a front-row seat into my patients’ lives as they navigated their way through cancer.
A huge part of their journey is hair loss. I started looking into what my patients could do to solve these issues and discovered the world of permanent makeup. I had the ‘A-Ha’ moment of “why can’t I do this for my patients?” So, I set out to create this permanent makeup and paramedical tattoo business, Define Brows.
My goal is to enhance people’s natural features and make them feel confident in every season of their life – to define their own beauty!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
To answer your question, I would say it’s been a bumpy ride…
From being a personal assistant to my beautiful children Alex (4) and Ava (1), a wife to my high school sweetheart Cody, while starting a new business in a new industry, and simultaneously learning social media has been a challenge, to say the least.
Learning what the difference is between a post, reel, and story has been a frequent google search among other things. Accomplishing my mom duties, while squeezing a shower in and debating between putting makeup on vs. styling my hair has been quite the task when trying to fit into the beauty industry.
All the while, I am trying not to take myself too seriously and allowing grace throughout the process – some days are easier than others!

We are a permanent makeup and paramedical tattooing studio that specializes in enhancing people’s individual, unique beauty.
With our medical background, we can offer a tailored experience to wherever your journey has taken you whether it be microblading, powder brows, lip blushing, 3D nipple & areola tattoo (for post-mastectomy with breast reconstruction), scar/stretch mark camouflage, or skin needling.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
When teetering back and forth on this business idea, my husband encouraged me to go for it! He told me, “Anything that scares you is worth going after!”
