Hidden Gems: Meet Rose Grant-Robinson of Coastal Children’s Advocacy Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rose Grant-Robinson.

Hi Rose, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The Big Savannah Toy Drive launched in 2021 and is now in its 5th year of collecting gifts for the children we serve at Coastal Children’s Advocacy Center (CCAC). The toy drive came about as a collaboration between CCAC and several local businesses that wanted to lend their support to our organization during the holiday season.

Over the years, the campaign has grown by leaps and bounds—this year over a dozen businesses are participating either as donation drop-off locations, sponsors, and/or donors. Over 30 children in our programs will have their holiday wish lists fulfilled, and several more kids who have come to CCAC for the first time in recent weeks will receive gifts, too. We’re so grateful to the many generous donors who sign up to shop for individual kids’ wish lists and who give toys, art supplies, games, and stocking stuffers from CCAC’s suggested gift list.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We’ve been so fortunate to have had the community’s support right from the launch of this annual campaign back in 2021. Since then, each year more and more support has come in through new donors and corporate partnerships. It’s been incredible to see the campaign grow and serve more and more children and families each year. And it’s wonderful to see how excited people are to get involved!

The Big Savannah Toy Drive makes a huge difference to the kids CCAC works with: these children have either experienced abuse or witnessed violence firsthand, and they need our support and compassion as they heal. The generosity and kindness shared through the toy drive is a powerful reminder to these kids and their loved ones that there are many, many caring people in our community. There’s a lot of hope to be found in that.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Since 1992, CCAC has been providing free investigative and therapeutic services to local children who are victims of abuse or who have witnessed a violent crime. Our organization is proud to have earned a Platinum Transparency Seal from Candid.
