Hidden Gems: Meet Stephanie Maupin of HollyOaks on the Marsh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Maupin of HollyOaks on the Marsh.

Hi Stephanie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It’s really quite simple… We fell in love with a house.

The story started the same as so many… Two college sweethearts fall in love and get married. They dream about their future together, children, a home near the water, pets, travel, and one that they truly just threw out as an idea to own a wedding venue. All of those dreams came true in beautiful and unexpected ways and when we least expected them.

Then in 2018, we were scouring homes for sale when we found her. On our very first tour of the estate, we knew she would be ours. Or truly, we would be hers. You see, this home was built before we even existed, and it is our hope that she will last long after we cease to exist. We are just the caretakers of this piece of paradise for this moment in time.

She was a mess, but we promised the previous, generational owners that we would not tear her down. We would celebrate love within these walls and gardens. They accepted our offer. From that moment, we had found our passion. We spent three and a half years renovating her, and we are passionate about bringing people together with experiences that exude joyfulness. HollyOaks on the Marsh is the realization of a dream.

We are creating a life together that we can be proud of, and we are inviting you into our home and lives by sharing HollyOaks with those who appreciate her the most. We fell in love with a house, and we think you will too.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been easy — this renovation. We have overcome hurdles at every single step in the process, but we kept our focus on the end goal.

A few examples… Spending nine months without a true kitchen, washing dishes in a bathtub, cooking on a hot plate and countertop oven. All in an effort to find the one kitchen designer who would understand our vision and goals. It was worth the wait. Our kitchen is a masterpiece!

Our gardens were completely overgrown with no view of the rivers at all. It took months, but we persevered and it was worth it. Our views are picturesque and serene with not a dock in sight! We renovated the barn just to have a storm hit and demolish the construction! But we re-built the barn stronger than ever and our horses are happy there.

Obstacles and challenges are hurdles to overcome. Life will throw an occasional curveball no matter where you focus your energies. The response says more about your character than anything else. Find Joy in the Journey — the good, the bad, the easy, the difficult. You will be a better person for it.
