Today we’d like to introduce you to Andy Richardson.
Hi Andy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
With nearly 30 years in the structural engineering industry, I have had wide exposure across various applications and highly specialized technical expertise. My resume provides experience in nearly any material, building type or structure. Living in the Lowcountry of South Carolina since 1998, I have acquired expertise in both hurricane design and seismic design of buildings.
Over the past 10 years, I founded and operated my engineering firm and provided engineering education for the PE Exam. In 2017, I rebranded my company as 29E6. With a combined passion for mentorship and excellence in design, I developed a process that delivers the best design with maximum efficiency and is intended to be used by a team of engineers. Since that time, the vision has been to grow and expand 29E6 so that architects, contractors, and fabricators everywhere can benefit from the 29E6-Step Process and its streamlined results.
I enjoy spending time with my lovely wife, Esther, and six kids. I also enjoy spending time with my church family as well as running, playing frisbee, and learning ballroom dance.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Where do I begin? “Running a business is like riding a tiger.” (Dave Ramsey) It is a thrill and also difficult at the same time. From cash flow challenges to attrition to all-nighters, there always seem to be challenges. I thankfully put my faith in God to help me get through each day. I have learned so much and have grown so much over the years.

I have had a business coach from day 1 in business. I feel that it is imperative to get an outside view of things. I also read and listen to podcasts and audio books to get insights into business ownership.
