Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Harvey.
Hi Ashley, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello, thank you for having me. And thank YOU for reading!
I have always been active, so becoming a personal trainer was an easy choice for me. Growing up, I was a competitive athlete. I played basketball and ran track, so I was always working out. I was training with my team or my family, so it was a fun and social activity, so it never felt like working out.
I stopped playing sports in college, but I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science with the hopes of becoming a physical therapist. I fell in love with moving my body again through many different types of fitness activities. It was then that I decided I wanted to be on the preventative side of health and fitness. Instead of being a physical therapist and helping people recover, I wanted to help people prevent injuries and learn how to create healthier lifestyles and prevent poor health. That is when I decided to get into personal training.
I am now certified in personal training as well as group fitness. I incorporate a lot of my educational background into my clients’ workouts making my programs safe and effective. I blend my scientific background with my overall love for moving to come up with fun, challenging workouts for my clients.
Over the past three years, I have been training clients and teaching group fitness classes. I’ve trained a wide range of clients from age 14 to 60. I’ve trained couples. I’ve trained athletes. I’ve instructed group circuit classes, cycling classes, and HIIT classes. Most importantly, I’ve met some amazing people along the way!
I love when my clients feel the reward of a good, hard workout. I love helping clients reach their health and fitness goals. I love seeing clients progress in their fitness in each session. Overall, I just love helping people!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As much as I love fitness, the academic side of the journey was difficult. Let’s just say, there are a lot of bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, etc., in the human body. And don’t even get me started on Chemistry! I had to study a lot to get through school.
Luckily, I like to think I had a built-in “cheat sheet” because I used my own body to study. I used my own body to practice movement patterns in kinesiology and memorize structures in anatomy. With blood, sweat, and tears, I got my college degree.

I also offer online training through Active by Ashley. This online training program is accessible through an app with custom workouts delivered right to clients’ phones. It’s like having me (your personal trainer) in your pocket! These workouts are designed for each client with their health and fitness goals in mind. Each workout includes video demonstrations and detailed instructions explaining each exercise.
In all my packages, I include nutritional guidance as well. I take the time with each client to learn about you, your life, and your habits. From there, together, we discuss how to create a healthier and sustainable lifestyle! Our bodies are all different. I believe that the best way to get results is to personalize the health and fitness experience for each client.
One of my biggest goals as a personal trainer is to help my clients gain confidence in the gym. I aim to teach clients how to work out so that they eventually will not need to have a trainer at all! I love when my clients know the rewarding feeling of a good, hard, sweaty workout. I want you to leave our sessions feeling amazed at what you and your body can do!
