Today, we’d like to introduce you to Cze-Chao Tam.
Hi Cze, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Trinity launched in 2007 in southern California with a vision to own the tool storage category. We were fortunate enough to secure Costco as our first customer with one initial item. As we learned and grew with Costco, we eventually expanded into the garage storage category and storage inside the home.
As we diversified our categories and brand tiers, we realized we needed to learn to drop ship for e-commerce to enable Trinity to secure more retail partners and capture more market share. As our e-commerce business grew, it was essential to consider the location of our drop-ship warehouses, and we quickly realized we would need a warehouse on both the West Coast and East Coast to best take care of our customers and meet their fast delivery expectations.
Atlanta was an obvious initial option due to its proximity to the port of Savannah and all the logistics options it would provide. Now, we are one of the leading storage and organization brands in the country, with 20+ retail partners, and we are proud to be able to not only provide our customers with quality products at the best price but also as quickly and efficiently as possible.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Obviously, in the last few years, COVID has affected every business and consumer. One of the reasons we were able to thrive in recent years and keep our customers in stock was due to our multi-port supply chain strategy.
Savannah played a crucial role in helping us move inventory quickly to our customer’s retail stores and distribution centers. Because Savannah is so close to Atlanta, we were able to utilize both rail and trucks to deliver containers to our warehouse. We could also move freight much more efficiently through Savannah to Miami than through Miami’s port, which allowed us to add diversity to our supply chain.
In the first few years of Trinity’s operations, we were faced with raw material challenges. While the entire storage industry was moving to lower quality, cheaper raw materials, we refused to follow suit. We knew that by doing so, the customer would suffer, and the product would be rendered useless in half the lifespan. Following the pack would give up customer satisfaction and add to the world’s waste problem for the sake of profits.
Instead, we used the challenge as an opportunity to collaborate with our factories and develop our proprietary raw material to provide our customers with the best cost for our quality product. Over 15 years later, we continue to use sustainability-focused proprietary materials and have been able to reduce waste, energy, and toxic chemicals, as well as ensure that we are giving our customers the best product for the cost they pay.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
Trinity specializes in solving problems for consumer, commercial, and industrial customers. If there is a way to make products more useful and environmentally friendly, we’ll figure it out. This is why we trademarked our innovative EcoStorage® finish for our chrome color products that don’t leak toxic chromium into the planet. It’s also why we have recently launched a new brand, RENEW (renewbytrinity.com), where our makers craft beautiful bamboo serving boards and furniture from recycled chopsticks.
If the customer has a want that needs to be solved, we’ll work on developing a product to deliver on their vision. This is why we make rolling wire shelving racks that will hold more weight than others in the industry and are tested to 1.5 times the advertised weight capacity. We also created an expandable freestanding closet organizer to accommodate the customer’s varying sizes. If there is a way to get our customers a product faster, cheaper, and in better condition, we’ll make it happen. That’s why our products have the highest weight capacities on the market but lower shipping weights and pallet stacks to ensure cheaper freight costs.
It’s also why we have four strategically located distribution centers in the US and 1 in Canada to reach our customers faster. Trinity is proudly known by both retailers and consumers for having the best quality product at a competitive and affordable price. We have established quality management systems that comply with the requirements of multiple international, federal, and industry standards to instill confidence in our claims.
Our mission is to improve the lives of those we touch, and we hope to continue to better work towards that each day.
