Inspiring Conversations with Federico Cali of Blue Edge Business Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Federico Cali

Hi Federico, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story really started back when I was just a few semesters away from graduating from the University of Florida’s business program. I was getting closer to graduation and honestly had no idea what I was going to do. Then one day, I got a call from a big business consulting firm in Florida. After going through seven interviews (yes, seven!), I finally got the job. I started working with one client and had some great success, which led to a promotion just three months in. From there, I was managing clients in three different states.

They started sending me to clients who were struggling to generate sales, so I became the go-to person for clients that needed help turning things around. One thing I noticed was that all these clients had something in common—they were competing for advertising space on TV, radio, and billboards. I kept thinking back to something I learned in school: the concept of the “three screens,” which means most people spend their time in front of one of three screens—TVs, computers, or phones. As a consumer myself, I realized I didn’t watch TV or listen to the radio much, but I did spend a lot of time on social media.

This was about 16 years ago. At the time, social media advertising wasn’t as competitive as it is today, and most users were highly engaged. I realized I could use these platforms to get clients way more exposure for a fraction of the cost. For example, while a $3,000 TV ad might reach 200,000 people, I could reach the same number of people on Facebook for just $100. It was a huge win for my clients and opened my eyes to the power of social media marketing. This helped so many clients create the exposure and sales they were missing.

I’m so grateful for that opportunity and the amazing mentor I worked with during that time. It completely changed the trajectory of my career. After a while, I decided to work directly for one of my clients, which gave me even more valuable experience. Eventually, I thought to myself, “Why not do this for myself?” That’s when I decided to start Blue Edge Business Solutions, helping businesses grow their sales with personalized strategies.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
For the most part, I’d say it’s been a smooth road, and I think that’s because we’ve always been upfront and transparent with our clients. We’ve done a great job of setting clear expectations from the start. For example, if we don’t feel confident that a client can recover their entire marketing expense within a month or two, we typically don’t offer our marketing services. Marketing isn’t a magic bullet—it doesn’t work for every service or product. By being honest and managing expectations early on, we’ve avoided a lot of potential issues and built strong, trusting relationships with our clients.

As you know, we’re big fans of Blue Edge Business Solutions. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We’re a marketing agency that works with businesses of all sizes, from Duracell Power Center and Iv San Bernard to smaller local businesses, offering a wide range of services designed to create exposure and drive sales. Our specialties include Facebook Ads, Google Ads, SEO, web development, web design, graphic design, and pretty much anything that helps businesses grow. Last year alone, we were responsible for generating over $20 million in revenue for our clients, which is something we’re incredibly proud of.

What also makes us stand out is what we’ve built with our studio in downtown Savannah. While we’ve been in business for eight years, opening this space last year was a huge milestone. The studio is more than just an extension of our business—it’s a community resource. Students, artists, and anyone looking for a creative or professional space are welcome to stop by, open a laptop, and work or study.

We also host regular networking events to connect new graduates and students with local business owners, creating opportunities for collaboration and mentorship. On top of that, we’ve started offering free assistance with résumé building and portfolio showcasing to help people in our community advance their careers. Soon, we’ll be showcasing the work of local Savannah artists with dedicated art expos, further highlighting the incredible talent in our area.

Our studio embodies what we’re most proud of as a brand—being more than a marketing agency. We’re a company that’s deeply invested in our clients, our community, and creating opportunities for growth and creativity. That’s what sets us apart, and that’s what we want people to know about Blue Edge Business Solutions.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Funny story—what initially brought me to Savannah was the Army. I was stationed at Hunter Army Airfield, and I remember when I first moved here, I’d spend late evenings exploring downtown Savannah. I often found myself wandering through the beautiful squares, but at first, I’d get this cold, chilling feeling, almost eerie, like there was a presence in the air. Over time, I got used to that feeling and came to realize it’s just part of Savannah’s unique charm.

What I love most about Savannah is the sense of community. It’s a small city where people genuinely care about each other and are always willing to lend a hand. The support and camaraderie here are unlike anywhere else I’ve been. Plus, it’s an amazing place to raise a family—quiet, friendly, and full of character.

If I had to pick something I like least, I’d say the eerie feeling I had when I first moved here was unsettling, but now I see it as part of Savannah’s magic and mystery. It’s all part of what makes this city so special.
