Today we’d like to introduce you to George Davis and Eduardo Rivas. Them and their team share their story with us below:
We started our business in Los Gatos, California approximately 25 years ago. George handled the gallery and the interior design portion of the business while Eduardo handled the finances and held a corporate executive Human Resources position in Silicon Valley.
We moved to Savannah almost 13 years ago and opened our gallery at 408 Bull Street right in the downtown historic district and the main corridor of the city. Approximately 75% of our antiques and home accessories business has moved online within the last 10 years. In 2018, we decided to divide our space into two galleries and rented out one side and kept the other for our fine art portion of the business as well as some antique pieces.
It was no longer necessary to keep all our inventory in the gallery. All of our inventory of antiques and home accessories are in a warehouse and get shipped from there as items sell. In our current space, we carry a limited amount of antiques and home accessories as well as new fine art by re-known US artists.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
For the most part, yes, except during the economic downturn in 2008, but most businesses suffered during that time.
