Today we’d like to introduce you to Hanna Stevens And Julia Botha.
Hi Hanna Stevens and , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
At the heart of Coastal Carts, it’s just us—two sisters—Hanna and Julia.
We grew up in Maryland and have always shared a love for party planning, décor, and all the little details that turn a gathering into something unforgettable. We’re drawn to beautiful style, love an excuse to get dressed up, indulging in great food, and most of all, creating thoughtful, elevated experiences for others.
We’ve lived in Savannah since 2008, and from an early age, we’ve been deeply intertwined with the hospitality industry—working in restaurants, events, and weddings. This city and its vibrant event scene have shaped our passion for bringing people together in memorable ways.
Coastal Carts is a reflection of everything we love—bringing joy to people through stunning, personalized events. We’re also committed to using dye-free ingredients in our offering, keeping things fun, flavorful, and a little more mindful.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
So far, it’s been a smooth road. Starting this business as sisters has made the process fun and fulfilling. We’re still in the early stages, but everything has flowed naturally, and we’re excited to keep growing.
As you know, we’re big fans of Coastal Carts Savannah. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Coastal Carts specializes in unique, customizable carts and props for weddings and events—think cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones, and our audio guest book phone booth. Each setup is thoughtfully designed to add personality and charm to any celebration. What sets us apart is our focus on detail, creativity, and creating an experience that feels personal and memorable. We’re proud to bring something fresh and fun to the event scene, with offerings that make people smile and moments that stand out.
What were you like growing up?
Hanna and Julia had very different personalities growing up, but their bond was always strong. Hanna, the older sister, was confident, outgoing, and full of energy—she was head cheerleader, involved in local activities, and always had a flair for fashion and aesthetics. Julia was quieter and more reserved, with a natural artistic talent that showed up in just about every medium. She preferred a smaller friend group and often let Hanna take the lead. Their differences balanced each other out then, just as they do now in business.
