Inspiring Conversations with Jamie Failing of Stardust Pixxies

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Failing.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have danced since I could walk, choreographing my first Holiday show at age 3 for my parents in our living room. Mannheim Steamroller was very inspiring. I have danced my way through life, quite literally. Dancing Queen was my nickname at every job I’ve ever had from sports stores to fine dining. Dancing is the blood in my veins, the air in my lungs, and every beat of my heart. It has saved my life more times than I can count.

When I moved to Savannah in 2013 I had no idea what the future had in store for me…A Circus?!? When I moved here I missed the dance life and through a series of events I wound up on Facebook looking for dancers to start a troupe. This part always makes me laugh, but the book of faces did not disappoint and I found 7 incredible souls who wanted to dance and learn new skills. My vision was simple I wanted to skill share and perform and it all began with Dance and Fire! Over the next two years more dancers, aerialists, and hoopers joined our eclectic troupe, and the skill sharing continued and we were really trying to find our groove. In 2017 we put on a Halloween Circus show that we dubbed The Stardusted Circus. With this one show, we found our path, we had become a Circus! From there we expanded our performances to include Corporate entertainment, Private parties, community events, and our original full production shows!

We are the Stardust Pixxies!

We Dance, We Fly, We Play with Fire!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest challenge for me has been defining my company in layman’s terms. When you hear Circus Production Company so many things come to mind. Through shows in our community and social media, we have been able to translate the abstract into something tangible.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The Stardust Pixxies Performance Arts Troupe started in Savannah, Georgia in 2015 with Traditional Dance, Fire Dancing, and Full production Dance and Fire Showcases. Since then we have expanded into Circus Arts, Private Events, Corporate Entertainment, and Festivals. Now performing Aerial Acrobatics, Fire Breathing, Stilt Walking, Acrobatics, Hoop Dance, Juggling, Dance, Roaming/Performing Characters, and all manner of Living Art Installations. Living Art has been our most recent passion, including Strolling Tables with jaw-dropping costumes, Living Statues that delight and startle, and Living Paintings. We Design, Produce, and Perform all of our Full Production Shows! We are Passionate Performers, Moment Makers, and we cannot wait to share our joy with you! We Dance, We Fly, We Play with Fire!

How do you think about luck?
I really don’t believe in the role of luck in business. I believe in hard work, kindness, dedication, networking, and careful thought.
