Inspiring Conversations with Jenna Armstrong of Savannah’s Fur Seasons Pet Resort

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Armstrong

Hi Jenna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My husband and I were born and raised in Florida, we still consider ourselves the rare Florida natives. We have a love for the ocean and the beach lifestyle that will never subside! I was in the medical field for over 15 years, after transitioning from the clinical world to the corporate healthcare world, I decided I was burnt out and ready for a change. In 2021 we decided to buy a house in Savannah so we could be close to our friends and family in Florida and start an upscale dog resort. When we moved away from Florida for work we had to find a dog sitter for our elderly Shih Tzu who wasn’t family for the first time and it was terrifying. Luckily we found an amazing woman who put our hearts at ease every time she cared for our sweet girl. We were ready for the tables to be turned and we wanted to provide a home away from home, resort like experience for the pups out there who truly are furry little kids!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Our initial challenges were mostly the construction and designing of the yard to create the pup paradise we envisioned in our minds. My husband and I did everything ourselves, the fenced in yard, artificial turf, four tons of easy to walk on small stones, pet cooling zones for the summer heat, and converted the garage to an AC area with epoxy flooring for those rainy days so the pups can still have a play area. It was as rewarding as it was brutal lol! Also website building, advertising, and social media creation were challenging for me because I had no experience in these areas prior to starting Savannah’s Fur Seasons Pet Resort.
Learning through the years the differences in breed traits was a fun challenge. For example Shih Tzus like to be at arms length but never left alone, Cavaliers want to be touching you at all times and are extremely loyal, Wire Hair Fox Terriers love to swim and have a gait like a horse, Poodles love water, have emotional intelligence and are incredibly cerebral, Rescue/mixed breeds are quite often some of the most well behaved pups.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Savannah’s Fur Seasons Pet Resort?
Savannah’s Fur Seasons Pet Resort provides cage free, resort style boarding with a shaded, fenced in backyard. We understand dog behavior and have created a pup paradise where your dog can choose to play or relax in a fun, safe, and upscale environment. Our indoor and outdoor play areas allow your pup to enjoy playtime or nap time in all seasons and weather conditions. We accept a limited number of reservations at a time to ensure the pups (and the humans) enjoy themselves, we have a weight limit of 3o pounds, and we require all of our resort guests to be well behaved, spayed/neutered, and up to date on all vaccinations/flea/tick preventative.

We also offer drop in-visit, and walking services for those pups that are over our weight limit. Pet transport is also available upon request.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Watching the pups enjoy themselves. It is so satisfying to see them lounging in the pool, sunbathing on the warm rocks, napping in the shade in front of the fan, playing ball or wrestling with each other, cuddling 0n the couch in the morning while having coffee, I could go on an on. It absolutely fills our hearts! Many of our clients have become friends, we share true passion for animals and it makes us happy to have such a special bond with our human clients and their fur babies.
