Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Garwood And Hillary Germano.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Jenna: I have a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from CIDA accredited Georgia Southern University. My background includes luxury residential and private aircraft interiors with Gulfstream Aerospace.
Hillary: My passion for space planning and interior design began at a young age. I started out just by helping friends and family with their interior styling. I’ve always considered myself a connoisseur of fashion, art, and interiors.
We met in 2019 and quickly discovered a mutual love for interiors and an indisputable eye for design. It didn’t take us long to realize the potential we could have as a team. We officially started our firm, Scout Proper Designs in April of 2024.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t say the road has been smooth. As with any new business, there was a learning curve, especially when it came to marketing and brand awareness. We learned quickly that not all visibility is valuable, and that our strongest growth has come through client relationships and referrals rather than paid advertising.
We’ve also had to continuously refine our processes as we scaled, making sure growth never came at the expense of quality. Those early challenges ultimately helped us build a more intentional and sustainable business.

Scout Proper Designs, LLC is a full-service interior design studio specializing in refined, livable residential spaces. We are known for our thoughtful use of materials, attention to detail, and a design approach that prioritizes both beauty and function.
What sets us apart is our hands-on, highly curated process and our focus on creating spaces that feel personal rather than trend-driven. We’ve grown primarily through word of mouth, which reflects the relationships we build with our clients and the care we bring to every project.
At our core, Scout Proper Designs is about creating interiors that feel intentional, timeless, and truly lived in.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson we’ve learned is that meaningful growth comes from relationships, not noise. While it’s easy to chase visibility, we’ve found that trust, consistency, and delivering a thoughtful client experience matter far more. When you focus on doing the work well and showing up with integrity, growth follows naturally.
