Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Renna
Hi Joe, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started working with appliances as a job, but it quickly turned into a something I knew I could see myself doing for years to come. There’s just something about taking things apart, figuring out what’s wrong, and bringing them back to life with my own hands that just clicked for me. It wasn’t always easy—getting clients and learning how to navigate the ever-changing economy and digital world was a huge challenge—but I stuck with it. Over time, we built Redo Appliance into a trusted name by focusing on fast service, competitive pricing, and treating our customers the right way.
I knew we were on the right path when I realized this business could sustain my family and provide an honest living while serving the community. That’s what keeps me going—connecting with people, helping them when they need it most, and knowing we’re making a difference. Looking ahead, we want to double our coverage in the next ten years and help even more folks in our community.
To anyone starting a business out there, stick to it! Don’t stop at the first mess-up—because there are plenty more coming! Being an entrepreneur is a lifestyle, not just a job. Chase your dreams and keep pushing forward.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I didn’t have all the answers when I started—heck, I didn’t even have a college degree. It’s been a lot of trial and error, learning things the hard way. One of the biggest struggles was figuring out how to get customers and make sure they trusted me. There’s no magic formula for success, especially in a world that’s always changing. You have to constantly hustle, learn the ropes of online marketing, and stay on your toes to keep up.
Another challenge has been trying to grow while still keeping that personal touch. As the business grew, it was tough to maintain that “family business” feel while keeping up with the demand. Sometimes it’s meant working late or pushing through when things get tough, but that’s just part of it. You learn to roll with the punches, and it’s those struggles that keep you grounded and always looking for ways to improve.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Redo Appliance is all about reliable, fast service that you can trust. We specialize in repairing major household appliances—everything from washers and dryers to fridges and stoves.
What sets us apart is simple: we don’t just fix things, we treat our customers like neighbors. We focus on keeping our prices competitive, delivering quick turnarounds, and always going the extra mile to make sure our clients are taken care of.
I’m most proud of the fact that we’ve built a reputation as a company that people can rely on. It’s not just about fixing appliances; it’s about being there when people need us and getting the job done right the first time. We’re not flashy—we just show up, do the work, and keep it honest. That’s what makes Redo Appliance stand out in a crowded field. Our customers know we’re not here to push them around with hidden fees—we’re here to help
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Yeah, the COVID-19 crisis taught me one of those classic lessons: you never know what’s coming, so you’ve gotta be ready for anything. It was a real wake-up call about the importance of adaptability. When things hit the fan, we had to quickly adjust to changes in how we worked, like extra safety protocols and even how we communicated with customers. We had to think outside the box to keep things moving.
When the world shut down, the priority became making sure we could still help folks without putting anyone at risk. It reminded me that no matter what happens, your reputation and your relationships with people are what matter most in the long run.
