Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynne Fleming.
Hi Lynne, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was 30 years old, I was a married mother of 3 small children (6, 7, and 8 years old) when my husband of 10 years was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. I returned to college to complete my undergraduate studies and applied to law school in order to make a future for my children and myself. I lost my husband 5 years later and subsequently graduated law school with honors and went on to become licensed to practice law in 4 states.
I have been an assistant prosecutor in Camden County, NJ, where I tried 55 felony cases in 3 1/2 years; I have been an associate litigation attorney in NJ and Ohio. And here in GA, I am the owner and principal attorney at Fleming Law, PC, a criminal defense law firm since 2012.
I enjoy my law practice on every level. I love mentoring young new attorneys, I enjoy helping clients and their families at the most difficult times of their lives, and I especially thrive on the interaction amongst lawyers, judges, witnesses, and juries during trials.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is very challenging, but I firmly believe that struggles and adversities bring out the best in us. I am grateful for the struggles and the failures in life, as they have contributed to who I am today. A mentor once told me you learn much more from losing a case than from winning one. I agree!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
At Fleming Law, PC, we are a very closely-knit group consisting of 3 trial attorneys and an outstanding paralegal. We focus our legal practice on Criminal Defense and traffic litigation. As a “work family,” we are very involved in each other’s lives – both personally and professionally. Jessi, our paralegal, often brings our “office dog,” Winston, to work. Ryan, our so-called “boy lawyer,” has a beautiful wife, Lauren, and one-year-old son, Collin, who both join in our office celebrations, such as birthday parties.
I believe what sets us apart from other law firms is our heart. We truly care about our clients and their families. We start our week every Monday morning, having coffee at the round table discussing our cases for the week. We brainstorm complex issues, as 3-4 heads are certainly better than 1!
What’s next?
I would welcome the chance to teach law or to serve as a judge one day, should I be fortunate enough to be given that opportunity. But if not, I am very happy with the life I have chosen. I plan to continue working at being the best lawyer and the best person I can be every day for as long as the good Lord allows.
