Hi Marti , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
A friend and I started in 2000 in small town Perry, Ga in response to a community who wanted a new shop with gifts and home accessories. It quickly grew to become a lifestyle shopping destination for anything from clothing, jewelry, tabletop, gift, and more! Fast forward to 2011, our family moved to St. Simons Island where we opened our second location and sold our Perry store to a previous manager. This year we will celebrate our 25th years of Two Friends! It has been so fun and fulfilling to see this dream grow to be a destination for people near and far!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
You can’t have smooth sailing without a few bumps along the way! In 2008, we had a fire in Downtown Perry that set us back several months while trying to find a new location. After the financial collapse in 2009, we had to pivot and ended up moving our family to St. Simons Island. Then, COVID came in 2020 with so much uncertainty…but if i’ve learned anything, it’s what my dad always taught me…know when to pivot and have faith that God has all things under control! With these and lots of small struggles along the way, it is what pushed us to be where we are today and made us realize that there is always opportunity for growth!

Established in 2000, owner and curator, Marti Tolleson designed her boutique to capture the essence of this southern resort destination and her style and philosophy on life. Two Friends has evolved from an appointment only micro boutique to one of the most popular shops on Georgia’s Golden Isle. As one customer described it, “It’s the type of store you walk in, throw your arms open wide and exclaim…I want everything!”
