Hi Melanie Frances, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I absolutely love entertaining our friends, family and neighbors. For many years, I have made charcuterie boards for different get-togethers my family and I have hosted or gone to.
Back in 2021 I took a formal class while my family and I were stationed at Camp Pendleton in California. At that point, knew I wanted to start a charcuterie business.
As a busy wife and mom who was also working a full-time job I wanted to be able to help others take some stress off of their shoulders when it came to events in their lives, both big and small.
New Year’s Eve 2025 Chasity Howard and I finally made the leap of starting a business together. That’s when all the hard work and fun really started!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would not say it has been a smooth road starting Sandy Bottom Boards’ co-owner, Chasity Howard, but it’s been fun! Everything in life worth anything takes willpower, strength, determination, and love!

Sandy Bottom Boards is a catering company. We specialize in charcuterie boards and grazing tables for all events, both big and small.
At our storefront in the Newpoint Plaza, we carry an amazing array of artisan cheeses from a company out of Wisconsin called Cheese Brothers. We also have different types of olive oil blends, balsamic, Genovese truffle pesto, local raw honey and sourdough.
You can also pick up two different sizes of what we call a Grab-N-Go to have as a lunch or appetizer. These are personal sized charcuterie boxes.
One of my absolute favorite creations we do is called a Snackle Box! This is a fun twist tacklebox and a Bento box. These are amazing for the boats and beach days as well as road trips, tailgating, or even make a fun centerpiece and conversation starter at any party.
We have started a fun club that is a Charcuterie of the Month. This is a monthly subscription that gives you a special themed board packed with seasonal goodies, fun flavors and tasty treats. Each month we highlight another local business and add them to the board. This specially curated board has perfectly paired bites sure to please every pallet as well as introduce pairings you might not have thought of.
We are a small, women owned and operated business. We truly put our entire hearts into each creation we make. We love being able to help families make memories while having delicious food.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
As a Charleston, SC native, I love being back home in the Lowcountry. My family has lived both overseas and the West Coast for the last 16 years as my husband is a Marine. We are so blessed to be able to retire out here!
I love that Beaufort has all of the small town charm and amazing sunsets on the water that are so picturesque. There’s no wonder why so many movies have been filmed here.
The one thing I will say I do not like is the threat to our wetlands as the city grows.
