Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Fann.
Hi Ryan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a young child, a neighbor unknowingly ran over me and dragged me down the street until a bystander flagged them down. My foot was irreparable and ended in amputation. Since I have no memory of ever having an intact foot, I learned to compete and play sports utilizing a prosthetic foot. In 2004, I medaled in the Summer Paralympics Games in Athens, GA earning the gold in the Men’s 4x400M and bronze in the 400M in track and field. My passion is enabling amputees of all ages and abilities to gain mobility and independence.
I have a unique perspective and connection to amputees and work passionately to advocate for them. My background inspired the formation of Amputee Blade Runners which is a non-profit that fits amputee children with running legs at no cost to them. I co-founded this organization after seeing how many insurance companies refused to cover the cost of running legs for kids.
Today, I am board certified by the American Board for Certification in Prosthetics and Orthotics and the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists. My graduate degree is from Northwestern University in Prosthetists Program.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
From my early childhood trauma of losing a foot, a steely determination grew and inspired me to strive for the best outcome. During school, I played football, competed in track and field, and learned to adapt to overcome obstacles that most of my peers never encountered. Today, this struggle inspires me to deliver the best possible prosthetic solutions for low country amputees. My patients are my legacy and their resilience amazes me daily.
My years of experience using prosthetics have given me an unusual ability to help solve fit issues and better specify the hardware to help amputees achieve reliable mobility.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Reform Prosthetics – Savannah, GA?

For new amputees, I work with the entire care team that includes the physician, surgeon, physical therapist, and coordinator to assure optimal outcomes. My patients can also reach me anytime to help through their recovery process.
I’m best known for my passionate, coordinated care regime. As an amputee myself, I have a unique appreciation for the recovery process. Reform also works with amputees who want to train for marathons and 5k’s. I enjoy a full, active lifestyle and enjoy helping my fellow amputees train and stay active.
My goal is to help amputees capture their independence and continue activities that they love. I am also current on the best practices and newest technologies so that my patients have access to all the cutting-edge advances in prosthetics.
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
My patients achieve the highest mobility rate in the industry which translates into a better quality of life and independence. It is very meaningful to watch a client transition through the care pathway to mobility. It is humbling and motivates me to keep pushing the care envelope.

Ryan was one of my students and friends while he was in high school. I had no idea that he had a prosthetic leg, all four years while he played football. He has never wanted to be treated differently from anyone else. He is a true success story, and I am so proud of him!
