Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany K.
Hi Tiffany, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey into this work has been shaped by life, healing, and a deep calling to serve. I am a Disciple, a wife, a mother, a survivor of sexual assault and adoption trauma, and someone who has walked through the kind of seasons that either break you or bring you back to God. For me, they brought me back — back to the Earth, back to myself, and back to the arms of the Father.
It was in that season of sacred rebuilding that Soil and Self was born. Not from theory, but from lived experience and deep dependence on God. I began sharing what had helped me heal: breathwork, prayer, herbal medicine, community, and the slow, holy return to presence. What started as a wave of expression grew into something I could no longer contain in words alone.
Today I serve as a Student Midwife, Holistic Birth Doula, Ayurvedic Postpartum Doula, Trauma Practitioner, Herbalist, and Spiritual Counselor. I walk with mothers, women, and birthkeepers through the sacred thresholds of pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and healing — tending to the whole person: body, spirit, and soul. Soil and Self is the full expression of that calling — a Christ-centered, Earth-rooted practice where the clinical and the sacred are never separated, because I believe they were never meant to be.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth? No. Sacred? Absolutely.
I’ve walked through sexual assault, adoption trauma, the unraveling of an unhealthy relationship, and seasons where I genuinely didn’t know who I was anymore. I’ve been a veteran trying to find her footing in civilian life, a mother trying to pour from a cup that had very little left in it, and a woman quietly grieving versions of herself she had to leave behind in order to grow.
Returning to school as a Student Midwife while building a business, tending a beautiful marriage, raising children, and answering a calling that keeps expanding — it has stretched me in every direction. There have been hard seasons. Lonely ones. Ones where the vision was clear but the resources weren’t, and faith had to be enough.
But I’ve learned that struggle can be soil. That pain can be a place of planting. And everything I offer through Soil and Self — every session, every remedy, every prayer — was grown in ground I’ve personally walked through. That’s not something I take lightly. It’s actually everything.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Soil, and Self?
Soil and Self is a Christ-centered, Earth-rooted holistic practice serving mothers, women, and birthkeepers across the United States. Founded by myself, a Student Midwife, Holistic Birth Doula, Ayurvedic Postpartum Doula, Trauma Practitioner, Herbalist, and Spiritual Counselor — Soil and Self exists at the sacred intersection of body, Spirit, and soil.
At its core, this work is about tending to the whole person. The clinical and the spiritual are never separated here, because I believe they were never meant to be. I specialize in holistic birth preparation, postpartum care, herbal wisdom, and spiritual companionship — walking with women through the sacred thresholds of pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and healing in ways that honor both their bodies and their faith.
What sets Soil and Self apart is the integration. There are spaces that offer clinical support. There are spaces that offer spiritual care. There are spaces that offer herbal or holistic wellness. Soil and Self holds all of it — rooted in Christ, grounded in the wisdom of the Earth, and deeply trauma-informed. I don’t treat birth as a medical event to be managed. I treat it as a holy liturgy to be honored.
Some of what I offer includes the Postpartum Nesting Blueprint, the Nectar Apothecary, and teachings like “To Worship the Father, Honor the Mother” and “Sunday Brunch: A Gathering for Mothers, Women, and Birthkeepers.” I also offer trauma-informed breathwork, herbal remedies, Ayurvedic postpartum care, and spiritual counsel — each one prayerfully and intentionally crafted to meet women exactly where they are.
What I’m most proud of is the sanctuary Soil and Self has become. Women come here tired of performing, tired of being managed, and ready to be truly held. This is a space where breath is prayer, the body is sacred, and healing is never rushed. A place where the fingerprints of God are honored in every part of the process — from the first contraction to the quiet, tender days of postpartum recovery to the breaking and becoming of seasons and transitions in womanhood.
My deepest desire is for every woman who encounters Soil and Self to leave feeling more rooted — in her body, in her faith, and in the ground beneath her feet.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I don’t know that I have one absolute favorite, but one that stands out — I was four years old, staying up late or waking up early just to watch the Discovery Channel. While most kids my age were watching cartoons, I was completely captivated by shows like Doctor G: Medical Examiner, E.R. Story, and my personal favorite, Birth Story; real births, real mothers, real moments of life entering the world. I was absolutely transfixed.
Looking back, it’s almost funny how clearly God was already writing the story. That little girl who couldn’t get enough of watching women bring life into the world grew up to become a Trauma-informed Doula, Student Midwife, and mother of many. Some callings don’t sneak up on you — they’ve been with you since you were four years old in your pajamas, wide-eyed in front of the television at midnight.
