Today we’d like to introduce you to Venus Mack.
Hi Venus, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been doing hair since 2003, 19 years ago. I started in my mom’s living room with my friends and family. Everyone would come to me because I was only charging $10 and giving great quality service. I worked my way from the living room to the basement to finally invest in my own salon.
I believe that was in 2008 and I’m still going strong to this day. I’ve made a lot of mistakes along the way but I’ve never given up. Today, I operate The Glam Bar Salon in Statesboro, GA,
We’re a full-service luxury salon catering to healthy hair care.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve been in the industry for many years and it hasn’t been a smooth ride. I started in the era of finger waves and pumps lol things have changed so much since then, I believe around 2012 I decided I wanted to specialize in natural hair protection, and it’s been a game changer.
It doesn’t matter what style my clients chose it can be a closure sew-in, braids, or silk press. My mission is to protect and treat their natural hair in the process and to educate them on the importance of protecting their natural hair.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Glam Bar Salon. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Glam Bar Salon is a luxury Salon Located in Downtown Statesboro, we specialize in Healthy hair care. We’re known for our silk press and protective extension styles like i-tips and tape-ins.
What set us apart from the rest is the professionalism we have and the experience we have in caring for and naturing the hair. We believe our hair is important and we must care for it like we do any other part of our body. We offer a number of services that can be found on our website www.theglambarsalon.com.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The important lesson I found during covid is that even if the world shuts down women still want to look cute.
That’s why I understand the purpose of educating your clients on how to maintain and protect their natural hair.
Even If my clients can’t come to get their wig done, their natural hair is just as beautiful.
