Today we’d like to introduce you to Anita Quarles.
Hi Anita, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey definitely hasn’t been daisies and butterflies (but whose has)!
It goes way back to being in a toxic work environment. I realized I was not where I wanted to be. I was going through a divorce, figuring out who I was; aside from a mother, daughter and sister. I took the risk and quit my job.
I signed up for lash classes, then a microblading class, and that small decision I made, changed my entire life. I’m still in the process of getting where I want to be at. I got a long way to go, but I’ve come a lot further.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a single mom is never an easy road. When you’re trying to jumpstart your career and raise a kid at the same time you really need to have a great support system behind you to take some stress off.
One thing I can say- is it definitely gets easier by the day!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in brows and lashes! I do microblading, brow shaping, brow henna, lash extensions and lash lifts! Being in this field you have to be an extrovert and a people pleaser, and I’m both!
I am most proud of how far I’ve come in such little time. I believe I am proof that being a single mom is not a bad thing and that you can accomplish what you put your mind to!
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
This industry can be tricky. There are so many local CEOs that specialize in the same things as you, and it’s easy to get discouraged just starting out, but my advice is to friend those CEOs.
We are all rooting for each other, and don’t see each other as competition. Push through the slow days and keep practicing.
