Today we’d like to introduce you to Bonnie Van Cedarfield.
Hi Bonnie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My husband and I are northern transplants that have created a life together in the South. We love to spend time together outdoors, reading, and drinking massive amounts of coffee! I have always been drawn to photography, both creating my own work and spending hours admiring others. Over the years I have spent many perfect days in the woods and at the beach with my camera letting my creative juices flow.
Beyond my lovely clients, I love to find beauty and character in objects otherwise overlooked. I enjoy creating images out of local views and things that seem every day or ordinary. In addition to photography sessions, I also offer prints of my personal photography for purchase.
My personal joy and struggle is always wanting to be better than the last image I created. That personal goal gives me motivation to keep learning and growing. My real desire is that my photography can bring joy not just to me, but to others.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
For me, the pandemic created the loss of my job at a large photography company and time to be creative and think outside the box. That combination led me to launching my own business, By Bonnie Photography! But still there were weeks or months were working wasn’t possible. I decided to embrace the challenge. I used the time to be more creative and work on business ideas. I also took some classes to work on new skills and learn from others.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a small business owner, I wear many hats and spend a lot of time on necessary day-to-day operations. My favorite hat is that of Photographer! I am the sole photographer at By Bonnie Photography.
I offer Maternity, Newborn, Family, Senior, and Small Business Branding Photography. I serve Savannah to Statesboro GA and surrounding areas. I love working with people and turning a moment into something special. Each session is different with someone’s story to tell! I love listening to my clients to see what they really want from their session! In addition to their final images, I want my clients to have a smooth and enjoyable photoshoot. I plan ahead and try to capture images that are one of a kind even if they are taken at famous iconic spots! I also offer some unique options like vintage car sessions and walking photo tours!
I personally edit every image that is delivered to my clients! I love all the creative aspects to my work and I put my heart into every image. I am passionate about my images being authentic and organic.
I strongly believe in shopping local and supporting small! I buy any items like food or flowers for my photo sessions from small local business. I also partner with other local business to give my clients what they need. For those who book a small business branding photo session with me can be confident that I will share and promote them to the extent they are comfortable with!

I love to recommend my favorite spots around town to interested clients. From my favorite coffee shops, restaurants that offer vegan food, the best ice cream in town, and the cutest mom and pop shops!
