Hi Leonie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Born & raised on the tropical island of Jamaica, I’ve always been deeply connected to nature and the unique experiences nestled therein. However, it wasn’t until I traveled to Colombia, Medellín, and experienced the magic of unconventional stays, that I became enamored with the idea of blending luxury with the tranquility of nature.
From this point forward, I set out to put my ideas into action—I wanted to create a unique outdoor experience that allowed people to connect with their community and the great outdoors in a meaningful way. Canvas Canopy was therefore birthed out of a love for nature, a passion for unique experiences, and the desire to bring people closer together in the most extraordinary settings. We don’t just offer an elevated pop-up glamping experience to our clients, but rather an immersive journey into the beauty of the outdoors, all while providing the comfort and luxury of a five-star experience. Within this space, people foster memorable moments and forge lasting connections. Canvas Canopy is a testament to the dream that started on a tropical island and is now flourishing, embodying the essence of exploration, relaxation, and togetherness.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This has been an exciting journey, but not without its own set of unique challenges. Fortunately, our focus on catering to a very specific niche has allowed for a relatively smooth trajectory in the early stages. Currently, however, we are beset with establishing credibility; most of our time and resources are spent engaging in marketing campaigns, pop-ups and collaborative ventures with local businesses in Savannah.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m well known for my relentless pursuit of innovation and creativity. I’ve always considered myself a lifelong learner and creative, driven by an innate curiosity and a passion for leading a purposeful and fulfilling life. This passion has led me to dabble in various fields, from robotics and engineering to education and art; it’s this diverse background that allows me to infuse my glamping experience with a unique flavor. I take pride in being an innovator and risk-taker, facing challenges head-on with a mettle that ensures I continually push boundaries.
Presently, we’re focused on diversifying our glamping offerings and extending our setups to lakefronts, RV parks, beaches and even private sites. Whatever the venue, we want to deliver a unique experience to all our clients.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
The backbone of my journey in the luxury glamping world can be credited to the unwavering support and enthusiasm of my close friends and family. They have not only been my primary supporters but also my most ardent cheerleaders and advocates. Their belief in my vision has manifested in tangible ways, as they generously provide spaces for me to set up and showcase my luxurious tents in the most picturesque locations. What makes their support even more special is the genuine enthusiasm with which they recommend my business to their own clients and associates. It’s heartening to witness the ripple effect as they enthusiastically share their magical glamping experiences, opening doors for me to connect with new clients and associates.
