Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexi Alexander
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have been into photography since I was 15 years old and couldn’t even drive to my first photo shoot. My passion continued to grow and I eventually started photographing weddings, making that my main focus. I went to college at The Ohio State University and got a degree in hospitality management, and I really started getting out of box with having to complete internships. I’m originally from Ohio, but my family and I would always vacation in the Savannah/Hilton Head area each year, and of course I fell in love with this area. My senior year of college I reached out to Sincerely Yours Events (wedding planner in Savannah) to see if I could complete my final internship with them, meaning I’d have to move down to Savannah for the summer. It ended up getting cancelled because of covid. Ever since 2020, I was always wondering and thinking what it would be like to live here. I finally got the courage to pack up my whole life and business in March of 2024, and it was the best thing I’ve ever done. Chasing my dream feels so surreal most days. I’m going into my 8th year of photographing weddings, and I’ve expanded my portrait side of the business by photographing families who are vacationing in the Savannah/Hilton Head area.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No. Like I mentioned in the last question, I was so excited to move to Savannah in 2020 for my final internship, and when it didn’t happen I was so disappointed. But I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. Starting over and almost having to re-build my business because of moving has been a lot of work, but I can see the work is slowly but surely paying off.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a wedding and portrait photographer based in Savannah, but also serving the Hilton Head area. I often hear from clients that I made them feel comfortable in front of my camera and that they had so much fun during their photo session. My goal is to have all of my clients feel confident so that when they get their photos back they see how beautiful they are. What I’m most proud of is that I’ve continued to follow my passion for photography. I can’t imagine doing anything else and being able to do what I love the most is the best feeling. Each wedding/family session is completely different and it’s enjoyable getting to know my clients story and truly getting to know them as a friend.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I am the pickiest eater ever. When it comes time to eating dinner at a wedding, I usually have to eat snacks from my bag. 9 times out of 10, I’d rather eats the kids meal.
