Life & Work with Melissa Wilburn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Wilburn.

Hi Melissa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Long story short, lol. I dropped out of school early and I’ve been working since I was 15, love my horse’s dogs and the sport of rodeo.

I have a twin sister, Stacey, I call her stack because she used to ‘stack’ it a lot like getting bucked off horses. She’s also my best friend!

She applied for a TV show called travel guides 6 years ago and now we travel around the world making travel guides I’ve just had a beautiful baby girl name, Savannah with my partner, Tim Donald whom I meet at Barnawartha Saleyards.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road is never smooth people think it is just because you’re on TV if anything it makes the road ruffer! But I just gotta keep on smoothing out the potholes!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a rural contractor on my ABN.

I’ve been doing this for the last 10 years mustering contracting up in Birdsville to managing an Angus farm down southern NSW calving down cows to feedlot work doing this type of work really suits me I’m not really a people person this way I get to work by my self with my dogs.

Also, give me the opportunity to do travel guides with taking the time off from work.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Alot of people think I live with my sister in fact we live separately! Haha.
