Meet Donise Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Donise Johnson.

Hi Donise, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?

In 2016, Loving the Private Care field for five years was the majority of all that I’ve known at the time. Then I began to realize I was a hard-working mother now and from the previous years for my boys, and marriage really never had any time for anything. But rest when I could until it started to take from me. Then, some days, I couldn’t move. I recovered my strength then, I’m tired, then I began to realize more and more each day, my back was not so good from all the work I’ve done, being diagnosed with scoliosis at the age of 11.

Then all of a sudden things Were coming together as I pray more and more each day that goes by for the better, alone at times, just me and my boys. I kept going, ending up back at work hourly because I knew one day something will come for me to be able to sit down but I told myself I needed it to take care of my children the best way I knew how, so I stayed, not to show the pain for my boys, of tiredness, running as I go alone, threw the nights of thinking how what could I do.

I knew I could do a lot of things, but just didn’t know where to start, I GOT UP AND TOOK CHARGE OF MYSELF, went for that talent, I started to bulk things, fashion/clothing/shoes, eyelashes, making Brand/Mother’s Day gift baskets, special occasions traveling from Statesboro to Atlanta to Savannah to Pooler to Hinesville trying to make it, to succeed. I was doing hair along the way since I’ve been 12 years of age. I stopped for years, after the years pass I grew and grew, still up and down.

Striving, motivating myself, to be a better person. Then God opened me as a woman doing hair sticking to your energy is welcome. Black women with the power of beauty, and soul, YOU WILL MAKE IT. As long as you believe and have faith in me. You may not think so but “Yes!” It was, now, threw the Grace of God. I’m doing hair full time and working for my boys Nasir 14, Quamez 14, Demetrice 11, De’marion 6. I truly love it, no more Going back.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I will say my life has had its course, knowing, I have had much Of the Church life, baptize growing up, then as I grew not so much of it, starting to take my children back, I was always told I will make it, because of who I was, and I had a good heart.

I was always helping the community when I didn’t have it, I never look for anything in return. So I prayed, and cried Even though, a lot was taken away from me.

In so little time, I went on, feeling like shattered glass. Then I said I am, the main piece to the puzzle (there’s no puzzle unless you have them all) keep it together, then I began to walk and walk.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I work by the seasons to the holidays, from time to time, selling items of fashion to hairstyling my clients when needed. If I lose, I choose the best route to take.

I’m known for doing hair and giving the best knowledge to the ones in need of help, I don’t mind at all. I am most proud of seeing my kids watch me, and I watch them grow, so they will know life, as young intelligent little men.

I’ve always lived by the righteousness threw out life, when it’s time. I love to smile and understand people.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People are always asking (what) how you? I say look, we’re going to make it, God, says so, giving support to others is what always matters to me.

That was just me. I really can’t say but that’s the heart of love, I have always had a helping, caring soul, Individuals are always listening to me for some reason when I speak, and I never knew why.

I think that’s a gift from God. Sometimes, you have to just listen, never speak you’ll hear more, then you will understand.

I know this young lady personally, this my younger cousin, but to see her overcome adversity and raise her boys with dignity and respect, she is truly one I admire. Keep God first and continue to rise so very proud of you
