Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Weaver.
Hi Kelly, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
So, the beginning of this adventure actually started a few years back when we saw our lifetime best friend, who actually owned this company, and thought how cool it was. I couldn’t wait to get home to let Kelly know all about it and how it would be so cool to do that, but we didn’t want to do it because naturally our best friend was doing it. After some conversation, the friend decided I’ll just sell it to you guys, but like most first time business owners we got cold feet and was scared because Kelly works a full-time job and I’m the mayor of the city and have a lot of appointments on boards in Atlanta, so we weren’t sure about timing. So, fast-forward to about two years later, Kelly and I were driving down the road just discussing life and how we needed have something of our own, so I brought up the idea again. She said why don’t you just call Taylor and ask her if she even still has it. So, at that moment, I made the phone call and within 24 hours we were pulling away with this business that we really knew nothing about. However, we had the opportunity to grow it to what we desired and expected. Our mission is solely to make the customer feel as special as they can for whatever event they have going on. Whether it’s a wedding a birthday party, a corporate event, a rodeo, or even a weekend festival we want you as a customer to feel you are a part of our business. We pay so much attention to detail using different decor for each event. None will ever be the same. So we basically create that once in a lifetime moment that we would expect if we were the one hosting the event. After taking on marketing and joining the chamber in Wayne County, we saw our business began to grow. Wedding after wedding being booked, s’mores events being booked for Christmas parties, toddler’s birthday parties, and coffee and donut events for local churches. There just have been so many unique opportunities that we have been able to be a part of. At that point, we decided we needed to remove the keg heads to create more counter space and not look per se as an alcohol only provider. We began to see our mocktails and lemonade specialty events begin to grow. From hosting youth events for our local high school and substance abuse information events for teens we have had a wide variety of youth begin to use our services. Those events usually happen during the week, so it doesn’t affect our wedding schedule on the weekends. If we had to choose one word to say about Coastal Pour, we would say blessed. We have been blessed with amazing community support and humbled by the outpour of love from our customers. We create a package specialized just for you and your event around your budget. Now Kelly is the face of the operation, and it’s been amazing to watch her grow and step out of her comfort zone into such a networking area. It’s pretty easy for me because I’ve been in politics to talk to anyone but watching her become the face of our organization and company has been a pleasure in itself. No location and venue is too far. We will travel anywhere just to be as part of someone’s special occasion. We get our hearts blessed by seeing others blessed and happy. After losing a son at 21 we took on a mission of serving others after going through the 1010 life with our church. We feel our part in our community serving is being able to bring happiness through Coastal Pour Co. We would love to have an opportunity to help anyone in their special occasions.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
So far for us there has only been a few struggles. Mostly just getting the word out that, hey we are here and ready to help and serve you any way we can. Other than that, things have been smooth for us. Our local community support has been unwavering.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I(Jason) am the Mayor of The City of Screven Georgia known as #1smalltownUSA. I have been successful in this role the past 8 years being appointed to several boards statewide with the highlight being on the Juvenile Justice Advisory Board for Georgia.
Kelly has a bachelor’s in medical administration and has been a Dermatologist nurse for 30 years being with Georgia Dermatology the past 25.
What were you like growing up?
Jason was widely known athletically with a heart for baseball. He lived for the game working on the family farm in tobacco and hog operations for his grandparents. Kelly grew up in Savannah, so the farm life wasn’t the norm. She graduated from Windsor Forest high school in 1996. Life in Savannah was much more fast paced than Jasons in the little town of Screven.
