Hi Macy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
At 17, I started waitressing at my hometown golf club. I quickly fell in love with helping with tournaments and private weddings and events held at the club. By 18, I was promoted to food & beverage manager and handled all events from start to finish, and the rest is history. I’ve been planning weddings, corporate events, and fundraisers ever since. Nearly 10 years later and I love it just as much, maybe even more!
Although I’ve always assisted and put on events, my time at Design Studio South as a lead wedding planner is what really introduced me to the Downtown Savannah Wedding Scene. Those ladies are phenomenal and working alongside them really inspired me.
Today we own & operate Belle Events Co. which is a full-service provider for any special event offering planning & design packages, floral services, as well as event rentals. At this time we average roughly 40 weddings a year and have 2 annual large-scale fundraisers that we put on. Our newest venture has been hosting/planning festivals. We’ve taken charge of 2 local festivals/parades that are hosted annually with a participant level of nearly 15,000 people and that’s really been new & fun for us.
We really love the hustle and bustle of putting an event together and seeing how it all comes together and we look forward to continuing to do so up and down the East Coast this season.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not! I’m a dreamer and entrepreneur and often embark on new opportunities if they look promising.
Needless to say, it doesn’t always work out and I’ve fallen on my face before, with new ideas and business ventures but I never let it slow me down for too long.
Our biggest struggles have been maneuvering through these last couple of years as a small business owners with the pandemic. Like most others who have survived these trying times, we’ve learned to always roll with the punches, but also to connect and value our clients and customers even more.
Then, most importantly cherish our families and never let this business overshadow our time spent with them because life truly is too short.
