Meet Meli Kirkwood of Bululu Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meli Kirkwood.

Hi Meli, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My career began over 20 years ago in the fitness and performance space, where I saw firsthand how driven individuals often push their bodies and minds to the limit. Over time, I realized that sustainable performance requires more than discipline; it requires physiological balance. That insight led me to earn a Master of Science in Nutrition, become a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN), and later specialize in stress physiology, metabolism, and recovery.

As the founder of Bululú Wellness, I work with executives, entrepreneurs, and high-performing professionals who are experiencing the hidden costs of chronic stress fatigue, hormonal shifts, and metabolic imbalance. My practice combines functional nutrition, movement science, and nervous system regulation to restore clarity, energy, and resilience.

I’m currently completing my Doctorate in Integrative Health, where my research explores how nutrition, movement, and autonomic regulation influence energy metabolism and stress adaptation. My mission is to introduce evidence-based, integrative wellness strategies into workplaces and leadership cultures, enabling high-achievers to perform at a high level without burning out in the process.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, both personally and professionally. In my own journey, I’ve experienced the exhaustion that comes from constantly pushing for more, something many high-achieving professionals can relate to. But one of the biggest challenges has been defining what integrative wellness truly means and helping people see its value before they reach a point of burnout or disease.

In our fast-paced culture, we often react to health issues, waiting for something to go wrong before we slow down, assess, and take action. My work has been about shifting that mindset. It’s about showing executives and organizations that wellness isn’t just a benefit or a trend, it’s a long-term strategy for energy, focus, and longevity.

Building that awareness hasn’t always been easy, but it’s deeply rewarding. When people begin to understand the science behind prevention, regulation, and recovery, everything changes, not just their health, but the way they lead and live.

Bululú Wellness is an integrative health and performance practice dedicated to helping high-performing individuals and organizations rebuild energy and resilience from the root. I specialize in bridging functional nutrition, movement science, and nervous system regulation, helping executives, entrepreneurs, and corporate teams understand how physiology, stress, and metabolism interact to influence focus, mood, and long-term performance.

What sets my work apart is the integration of science and practicality. I don’t approach wellness from a single lens; I look at how biology, behavior, and environment intersect. My background as a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS), Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN), and movement educator allows me to create personalized, evidence-based frameworks that address both metabolic and nervous system health.

Currently, through Bululú Wellness, I offer individual consultations, executive coaching, corporate workshops, and group programs designed to support sustainable energy and emotional regulation. I’m also pursuing my Doctorate in Integrative Health, focusing on how nutrition and nervous system regulation shape energy metabolism and stress adaptation research that directly informs the strategies I bring to my clients and organizations.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how Bululú has evolved into more than a name; it’s a philosophy. It represents the process of transforming chaos into clarity and burnout into vitality. My goal is for people to understand that wellness isn’t about doing more, it’s about learning to regulate smarter, fuel intentionally, and lead from a place of alignment and energy.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There are several ways people can work or collaborate with me through Bululú Wellness. For individuals, I offer personalized integrative nutrition and performance consultations, where we look at the root causes of fatigue, stress, and metabolic imbalance. These sessions combine functional testing, nutrition strategy, and nervous system regulation tools to help clients restore clarity, focus, and sustainable energy.

For organizations, I partner with leadership teams and corporate wellness departments to deliver evidence-based workshops, executive wellness sessions, and group programs that address stress physiology, resilience, and high-performance recovery. My approach is data-informed yet human-centered, bridging research with real-world application to create healthier, more productive workplace cultures.

I also love supporting young athletes and teams!

I also collaborate with other health professionals, educators, and wellness organizations who share the vision of making integrative health more accessible and science-driven.

Ultimately, the best way to support my work is by advocating for preventative, integrative wellness in boardrooms, teams, and daily life. I believe the future of performance lies not in pushing harder, but in learning how to regulate, recover, and rebuild smarter.
