Meet Pastor Nick Fox of Outskirts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pastor Nick Fox.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up in a Pastors home Church is all I knew from Sundays, to Revivals, and signings. In 2005 I was serving as a deacon and in my home Church and felt that God was calling me into ministry. I ran from the calling and in November 2007 the Holy Spirit spoke to me and said this is it. I surrendered to the calling of Preaching. After several years of preaching wherever God opened the door (Church’s, Nursing home, Prison, and schools.) I was called to my first Church Congaree Baptist in St. Matthews Sc in September of 2013 and stayed there until March of 2024 when God called me to my current Church Bedon Baptist Church of Walterboro SC. Over the last year and half God has blessed us tremendously. I have the privilege of serving with my wife Amanda, kids, and best people each week. We are excited to see what all God is going to do in this New Year.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’m not sure anyone in ministry can say its been smooth.
I will say, though the journey gets rough and long God has never left me nor forsaking me.
If I’m being honest, If it wasn’t for my wife Praying, pushing, and encouraging me then I would have quit many times. Thankfully she reminds me of all God has done.
The hardest struggle for me is knowing I have tried my hardest but still have people that will find something negative. I know we will never please everyone. As a Pastor my heart is for people and I try to follow the Word of God as the Apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 9:22 “To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.”

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Pastor in Walterboro Sc at Bedon Baptist Church. I pastor and preach weekly at my home Church or in revivals.
Pride is a word that I use lightly because pride comes before destruction. I must stay humble in my calling. I love watching God save people, addicts being delivered, families coming together. I love to watch people Worship The Lord for all He has done in their life.
What sets us apart is the life we live for Christ and not afraid to worship as religion has taught us. A lot of people think Church has to be boring and tiring. We go to Church to Worship! Id say that is what sets us apart.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
When God called my family and I to Bedon they were stuck in the rut of tradition. The very first thing I did was change the order of service in the bulletin. For you that know church’s, that was a risk on how they were going to take what else God had envisioned and burden me with. After a year of ministering, God was blessing and our parking lot was not able to comfortably hold everyone. There is a 2 acre tract in front of our Church that was planted in pine trees and azalea bushes. Talking about a risk for my job! I mentioned what God showed me and we presented it to the Church. In much surprise the Church voted to cut down all the trees and pull up the azaleas to help with the parking, safety, and so people didn’t have to walk from the cemetery anymore to get inside to Worship.

I think when God puts the vision we need to take risk because we can always try something different. But we will never have more than what we have if we don’t take the risk and step out on faith.
