Today, we’d like to introduce you to Scott Mitchell.

Scott Mitchell

Hi Scott, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
For many of us, leaving behind a stable corporate job to pursue our passion seems like a distant dream. However, for me, this dream became a reality. After spending years climbing the corporate ladder, I took a leap of faith in 2015. I began my venture into the world of entrepreneurship, eventually owning not just one but two successful businesses.

My journey began when I decided to open a gift shop in my adopted hometown of Macon, Georgia. With a keen eye for unique and high-quality products, The Bohemian Den quickly gained a loyal customer base and won numerous awards, including OUTGeorgia’s Small Business of the Year and the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Leader of the Year. However, my entrepreneurial spirit didn’t stop there. I soon found myself yearning for a new challenge, leading me to expand my business ventures even further.

During a phone call with a good friend, Emily Hopkins, at NewTown Macon, I discovered my next venture – a dessert and coffee shop. Inspired by the rich and diverse culinary experiences I’ve encountered in the quaint shops of Europe, I decided to bring a taste of that indulgence back home. With meticulous planning and a dedication to creating an inviting atmosphere, Sweet Eleanor’s Divine Desserts soon became a local favorite.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My success as an entrepreneur serves as a testament to the rewards of following one’s passion. My willingness to take risks and my unwavering commitment to excellence has propelled my businesses to new heights.

In a world where the corporate grind often takes precedence, my story is a refreshing reminder that it’s never too late to pursue your dreams. I am a recovering drug addict and alcoholic who just recently celebrated 19 years in recovery. What once seemed impossible to even imagine is now my reality. Today, I am mentoring others and creating spaces for those living on the fringes.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about The Bohemian Den and Sweet Eleanor’s Divine Desserts?
My first business venture, The Bohemian Den, quickly became the go-to space in Downtown Macon for metaphysical gifts, offering a vast array of fair trade items from jewelry to art. Our guided meditation each week at noon during our Mindfulness Mondays creates a positive headspace for many in our local community.

What sets my dessert and coffee shop, Sweet Eleanor’s, apart is my commitment to finding only the finest ingredients. From rich, decadent pastries to perfectly brewed Savannah-based Perc Coffee, every item on the menu is chosen with care and attention to detail. This dedication to quality has not gone unnoticed, as the shop has garnered rave reviews from foodies far and wide.

You may be wondering what makes Sweet Eleanor’s a must-visit. The answer lies in the unparalleled experience it offers. Whether craving a rich, velvety chocolate cake or a perfectly frothed cappuccino, Sweet Eleanor’s delivers on all fronts. The inviting ambiance and warm hospitality only add to the overall appeal, making it the perfect spot to indulge in a sweet treat or unwind with coffee.

What matters most to you? Why?
My entrepreneurial journey is a source of inspiration for aspiring business owners and food enthusiasts alike. My dedication to creating memorable experiences through my businesses is a testament to the power of passion and perseverance.
