Shana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began my insurance career in 2013 as a telesales life insurance agent. In 2015, I obtained my accident and sickness license and joined another agency, selling health insurance over the phone. By 2017, I had obtained my property and casualty license and accepted a position in Millen, Georgia, serving as both office manager and producer. After five years in that role, I took a leap of faith and opened my own insurance agency in 2023. Nine months later, I purchased the very agency where I had previously worked.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not, and that’s part of what makes the journey meaningful. The road has been far from smooth. Insurance is a fast‑paced, ever‑changing career path, and keeping up requires constant growth, adaptability, and a willingness to step outside your comfort zone. I’ve had plenty of long nights, early mornings, and seasons where I had to push myself harder than I ever expected.
Building connections over the phone with strangers was one of the biggest hurdles to begin with. When you’re working in telesales, trying to create a genuine rapport with a stranger over the phone is no easy task. It takes patience, resilience, and a whole lot of skill. I have tremendous respect for anyone who does that work; it will teach you grit in a hurry!
And once I moved into leadership, I learned quickly that managing others isn’t simple either. Guiding a team, supporting different personalities, and keeping everyone aligned in such a fast‑moving industry comes with its own set of challenges. It stretched me in new ways and forced me to grow as both a leader and a communicator.
Every struggle, whether it was learning the industry, connecting with clients, or leading a team, shaped me and prepared me for the opportunities that came later. The road wasn’t smooth, but it absolutely built the foundation I needed.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
A quality that has been absolutely essential to my success is resilience with a people‑first mindset. The insurance world moves fast, changes constantly, and demands quick thinking, but none of that matters if you can’t stay steady, adapt, and keep showing up for people.
Resilience has carried me through every tough season: the long nights, the early mornings, the uncomfortable growth, the leadership challenges, and the moments where I had to learn something new on the fly. But just as important is the ability to connect with others, clients, coworkers, and the community. Insurance is a relationship‑driven business, and being able to listen, communicate clearly, and genuinely care about people is what sets my agency apart.
