Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Grant.
Hi Tyler, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
When I graduated high school, I didn’t really know what I wanted to do with my life, so I went to hair school because my mom was a beautician, and it looked “fun.” I knew that wasn’t going to be my forever career, but I ended up doing that for almost 10 years. My first year of cutting hair, I worked in the “salon world”; it just wasn’t my passion. A friend of mine was cutting hair on the military base and told me to give it a shot. I cut hair on the military base during the last 8 years of doing hair and managed all the shops. I went to college on and off but was so busy that I kept pausing until the last 3 years when I really buckled down to finish college. I love working with numbers, which goes hand in hand with real estate but found myself still wondering if accounting was what I really wanted to do forever. I fell in love with the dental field and worked in dental for 2 years before finding my new passion of real estate. I’ve always loved looking at houses, driving around the fancy neighborhoods, keeping up with the latest trends, etc. One day, I started looking into real estate and thought I’d give it a shot and started talking to people who were currently active. A good friend of mine here in GA, Whitney Preston, is a very successful real estate agent and gave me that push to want to do it, so I did. The thrill you get when talking with clients and helping find their dream home is just so gratifying that words cannot explain. I finally found my niche, accounting and real estate go hand and hand; it may have taken me 12 years to find my ”path,” but I am so thrilled and excited to see what the future holds. During the years of cutting hair, I just never felt like I could excel in the profession; once you hit a specific area in the cosmetology field, you sort of plateau and aren’t able to further yourself. I struggled with friendships throughout the years and just never had the drive to push myself until meeting my husband, who has given me motivation and a new outlook on life.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Having to struggle to balance work, friendships, finances. It was always a tough road trying to get to where I am today. I always tried to fit in and never really focused on myself until recently. I was always a giving person, and people took advantage of that. Trying to better myself while having to work so much was very difficult. I was forced to focus on work when I was a manager for all those years and kept having to put aside school. I felt like I had go devote time to friends in fear of being alone, I was single for years and years and only had my tiny family and few friends. I was always too worried about what people thought of me and felt like I had to be this person that I wasn’t to make others happy, forgetting that I needed to make myself happy. I was afraid of letting people down
We’ve been impressed with your work as a realtor, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a REALTOR in the Hinesville/Richmond Hill/ Savannah area. I help clients buy/sell homes. As a military spouse, I completely understand the importance of PCS season when service members and their families and coming to the area as well as leaving. What sets me apart from others is my ability to talk with people and have a clear understanding of exactly what they are looking for from me, from their home, the process as well as what they need when looking at selling that they may not realize that they need. I help them look at the big picture. I stay up to date on the most recent trends/styles of homes. I have a passion for interior designing; I help clients envision how they could set up their home, what colors would go well with the style; I have a keen eye for detail.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory used to be swimming at my grandparents’ (dads’ side) and spending time out at my grandparents’ farm. (Mom’s side)
