Today we’d like to introduce you to Hillary Stone.
Hi Hillary, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Before diving into the wedding industry, I was a full-time stay-at-home mom. I had the opportunity to work with another hair and makeup company to sub in for one of their artists on maternity leave.
I quickly fell in love with the fast-paced world of weddings and the brides I was able to work with. When my stint as a fill-in came to a close I began to realize my passion for the beauty and wedding industry alike. Thus, The Blushing Belle was born!
I’ve worked for years honing my skills, researching products, and building a company built on making women (and men!) feel beautiful. As clique, as it may sound nothing, makes me smile more than being a part of somebody’s ‘Happily Ever After’.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Smooth? More bumpy and winding. When I first began working with clients, I was terrified! Combine that with being a Mom to 2 under 2 and my life was filled with chaos!
I quickly realized that in order to be of better service to my clients I needed to learn to listen and pivot when needed. Communication is a valuable skill both as a mother and makeup artist/business owner.
Each bride comes to me with a vision of what their perfect wedding hair/makeup will look like. It’s my job to interpret that vision and make sure they feel like a true ‘Blushing Belle’ on their wedding day.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I run a collective of makeup artists and hair stylists that provide beauty services for weddings, special occasions, pageants, proms, and more! Our team’s main focus is to make our clients feel beautiful (so cheesy I know). We are all true people pleasers and love helping women (and occasionally men) feel perfect whatever the occasion may be.
Aside from running the business, I am also a makeup artist working alongside my stylists. My primary focus is on bridal makeup and all things wedding-related. I often get asked if I will ever step back and just run the show instead of acting in it. My answer is a big fat NO! I thrive on the happiness each new wedding day brings along with the people I’m able to meet.
Nothing will ever replace the feeling of pure joy I relieve from watching my brides step into their wedding gown and giggle with anticipation of what’s to come. I firmly believe my team and I set ourselves apart by our true love for this industry. We’ve been known to hop in and help wherever we are needed to ensure our bride’s day is absolutely perfect.
From decorating tables and putting out desserts, to even helping the bride use the potty before walking down the aisle (true story! Lol). Wedding days are truly magical and to be a part of something so spectacular is too much to put into words.
What makes you happy?
That’s the wonderful thing about my job.
When you are talking about weddings, there is happiness with each and every new day. First looks with the groom, fathers, bridesmaids, and even children are overwhelmingly wonderful. Laughs and memories from the bride and her bridesmaids are a privilege to witness.
All the puppy snuggles from dogs of honor are especially satisfying, but above all else, there is one thing that makes my heart swell with happiness and that is simply ‘the walk’. That moment when the bride steps out into the aisle and begins walking toward her forever soulmate.
At that moment the whole world stops and I am reminded again of how profound love is. I have yet to attend a wedding of any of my brides where I don’t cry during this moment and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
